We have a 5 day trip with park admission booked for may 22nd. I was able to get off of work a day early so I booked a separate reservation at Ft wilderness (resort only no tickets) on the 21st. Can I start using my park tickets on the 21st? We are thinking that it would be nice to chill out at the campground on the last day instead of the first.

If you bought your tickets as part of a WDW RESORT PACKAGE, you need to go to Guest Relations and have the Package tickets activated before you use them.
Outside any park, or at TTC, or at DS.

If you bought stand-alone tickets, they can be used anytime.

You can pick your chill day for in the middle too! Your tickets are valid for 14 days after activation. You don't have to use them back to back. You can space them out and relax in the middle.

@Robo question for you...I want to make sure I understand this correctly (and as I've been searching all over the boards & you seem to be popping up w/answers related to these questions often so I'm hoping you KNOW the answer! :))

My specific details--
Room Only at Pop 11/14/2016
MYW package w/5-Day PH tix & DP starts 11/15/2016 at CSR

So on 11/14/2016 we could go to Guest Relations (park/TTC/DS) & ask to have our "package tickets activated." Is that it? (Is that the correct terminology to use?)

Do most CM's know how to do this now? I've found some older posts where it sounded like many CM's did not know what this meant.

Do we all have to be there? (Family of 4) or Just the lead guest?

Also, will they just do something in their system to change our tickets so we can use them on 11/14? Do we need to hand over the MBs at all? (My guess is no, as the tickets aren't 'physically' on the MB.) Will we be able to use our MB's for entrance or will we get a hard ticket for all the days' worth of tickets?

Lastly, how far in advance could we have our package tickets activated? (Knowing they are only active for 14 days after first use.)

Thanks in advance!

You already received a very detailed answer, but I wanted to jump on here to let you know that we did a very similar thing last year:

We were booked at CBR Room-Only for 11/8, then our FD package at CBR with 8 days of tickets started on 11/9 and went through 11/13. We then had a 2 night Room-Only ressie on the back end for 11/13 -11/15.

We checked in the morning of 11/8, and asked the front desk if we could go ahead and activate our package tickets that day. The concierge desk was able to assist us in getting that done. Maybe because our package stay was at the same resort, I don't know. But it did take about 15-20 minutes at the desk to get it taken care of, and I believe she had assistance from a supervisor to do it.

We took a break in the middle of our stay and went over to the "Dark Side" (Universal Studios) and ate there while visiting. That way we had a few dining credits to use on 11/13, the last day of our package, since the credits are good through midnight of your check-out day. We were able to stretch our park tickets to last until our last day, by not using it in the middle of the week, but we could have added an extra day to the tickets on the package. There's no rule that says if you have a resort package for 3nights/4 days you can only buy 4 day passes in that package, you can buy a 5 or 6 day ticket if you wanted to. They just last 14 days from first date of use.

the only issue is that you won't be able to book advance fastpasses for the pre-package days. Those days will be considered without admission until you have actually had the package tickets separated from the resort reservation. If you have only one pre-package day, you can only get same day fastpasses for that day.
