There's something sick about setting the alarm for 6 am when on vacation! Still, I was bound and determined that we would not waste a minute on our trip, so we were out the door by 7:30 and on our way to the MK for early entry. We picked up danish and croissants at the food court ($10) and ate in the car on the way!
We walked up Main Street and marveled at finally seeing the castle as it's supposed to look. Last time we were there, it was dressed up like a birthday cake! Just as we reached the end of Main Street, we decided to have our picture taken. I don't usually buy this stuff, but we'd saved some "budgeted" money on breakfast, so I figured why not. We headed straight for Space Mountain, and walked right on. Next was Buzzlightyear, followed by Alien Encounter. We walked over and waited for the rope drop to get to Frontierland, and rode the first ride of the day on Big Thunder. For those in doubt about early entry, or visiting this time of year, I can't stress enough how great the "value" season is. By noon, we had ridden Space mountain, Big Thunder, Splash, and Buzz Lighyear twice; Pirates, Alien Encounter and the jungle cruise, all without any waiting in line. I just can't imagine waiting an hour or more to go on a ride!
We had PS's for the Liberty Tree Tavern at 1:00. We showed up early and waited only 5 minutes. I really enjoyed eating there, and found it reasonable for the amount of food and quality. Total was about $55.
After lunch, we strolled around and took in some of the other attractions. The Carousel of Progress (hate to say it, but it's soooo dated!); the Timekeeper, Transit Authority or whatever it's called (calling Mr. Morrow - Mr. Tom Morrow) I think that's burned into my brain now! We repeated space, splash and big thunder a couple of times. I tried to suggest going back to the hotel after lunch, but no one wanted to leave. Finally, by 6 pm, we were all pooped, so headed back to the resort. We ate at the Pepper Market again. The burgers, pasta and pizza were all good, but I wasn't overly tempted by the rest of the offerings. The total was $53.
After supper, we headed down to DD again, this time to take in the Adventurers Club. Unfortunately, we showed up at 8 and that club didn't open until 9. We were too tired to hang around, so we opted instead for a swim back at the resort. We had the pool to ourselves - it was great!
I think we all fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow at 10pm! Nothing like a trip to WDW to get a family on the old "early to bed, early to rise" theory!
