Around the "World" in 13 meals....

Really enjoyed your reviews Jill. Another question though - did you feel comfortable about taking your DD to the upstairs dining room at Wolfgang Pucks? Were there other children there?

We felt very comfortable taking our daughter to the Dining Room at WP's. We have taken her out to these types of restaurants ever since she was born. So she is well-versed in how to behave in such places. Also, they do have a kids' menu (but we wouldn't have been deterred if they hadn't) so that tells me they expect children in their restaurant. I can't say that I saw alot of kids there, maybe only a couple other children while we were there...but I never felt uncomfortable with her there. And the staff really seemed to give her extra attention. The waitress talked to her one on one about the menu, etc and the wine steward even came and spent time playing around with her. She enjoyed the evening very much.

If your children are used to going to these types of restaurants - then I would say go for it! Even, if they don't typical go to these types of places, but have good table manners - I would say do it - you have to start sometime, right?

Also, the restaurant has an open kitchen in the back - if you request a table near the kitchen, your kid/s may get a kick out of watching the chefs at work - which would help entertain them throughout the meal.

I don't know how Goofy's Candy Companycould have ever slipped my mind -but somehow, I failed to mention this little gem. It's located in DTD on the Marketplace side. This candy store is so neat! You can custom create several items such as marshmallows, pretzel rods, caramel apples, strawberries, etc. You fill out a sheet and choose your item, types of chocolate dips (dark, milk, white); toppings (sprinkles, crushed M&M's, pecans, etc) and drizzles (chocolates or caramel). They do an excellent and very precise job with each step and cool things in between so you don't have a big gooey mess at the end. Then they box it up and it's great to eat immediately or take home with you (which we did). We did two different sets of the pretzel rods - and took both boxes home. They made it in our carry on luggage in one piece with nothing broken or smushed. These little babies are yummy! I really, really, wanted to do a caramel apple too and next time, by God, I'm going to do one! I could go to this place everyday of my trip and never get sick of it!!

Oh, yeah - they have other candy too - but once I saw the make your own stuff.....I never really took the time to look around at anything else, ha! Can you say TUNNEL VISION??

You're daughter is so cute, Jill!

Make sure you tell her I agree, Mickey Ice Cream is the best!!! :mickeybar

Great reviews. Love the pics. You may have talked me into O'hana. It looks like fun.

We happened upon Starring Rolls a couple of years ago and now always make it our first stop in MGM.

I think if you have an open mind and understand Ohana for what it is - a very entertaining and fun family night out - then I'm sure you will enjoy it. If you expect it to be the best food you ever had - then no, you won't like it. Don't get me wrong - some things at Ohana are very, very yummy and worth writing home about - but some things were disappointing too. Like I said in my reviews -I know these types of places are hit or miss with the meat preparation - so it didn't bother me. I fell in love with the sides and dessert and there was more than enough food to fully satisfy - I say give it a go!!

PS - I see you're from GA - we just moved back to ST Louis after 10 years in Atlanta (Kennesaw)....we love it here, but miss ATL too!

Wow, I definitely want to try the Wolfgang Puck Dining Room after your review. Maybe I'll get a chance on our Jan. 2008 trip.

I love, love, love the make your own treats at Goofy's Candy Co. They're worth the trip to DTD.

Your dd is such a cutie with that Mickey Mouse ice cream.

Thanks for your reviews.

Love the reviews!! You are hitting some of the same ones that I am thinking about doing and I only have 9 more days until I can make my ADR's!!! I am getting stressed trying to make decisions!

When we checked into the hotel, I told the staff person that it was her first time. She gave us the pin and some coloring pages and crayons. There were alot of people wearing the pins all throughout the parks - even adults. It seemed to get us some extra special attention, like stickers, conversation, etc where ever we went.

Woohoo! I hope they do it for my boy (and DH!) It will be the first time for both when we go in November. As for me, I stopped keeping count at 30!

WOW - over 30 times? That's a lot of Disney, ha!

I think the First Time pins are pretty standard - so I'm sure they will do it for your child. I also heard you can call ahead to the hotel and they can make a note in the computer about it - I would do that - once less thing to remember at check in.
