Which one would you prefer, and why? My wife is a spa virgin and this will be her first time. What should she get? She's torn between the two of them and I know people here have their favorites.

Could you tell me what one has vs. the other that makes it better "in your opinion" ?

Aromaspa Ocean Wrap with Well-Being Back Massage
Combining the powers of seaweed, sage and aromatherapy, the Aromaspa Ocean Wrap detoxifies the body while relaxing the mind. The active ingredients work to re-mineralize the body with vital trace elements from the sea, giving an instant boost of energy while increasing the metabolism. Musclease and Cellutox helps to remineralise the skin, detoxify the body, and soothe stiff and sore joints (great for athletes and also recommended for those who suffer with arthritis and lower back pain). During the wrap you will receive a foot, ankle and scalp massage. After rinsing in a warm shower your therapist will continue with a relaxation massage to the legs, back, neck and shoulders.
Duration: 75 minutes
Price: $176

Elemis Absolute Spa Ritual
The Elemis Absolute Spa Ritual has been created to treat the mind, body and soul holistically to help restore balance and harmony. Using potent aromatic oils and a combination of reflexology, shiatsu and pressure-point techniques, stress is gently eased away. In addition to the treatment of the body, we incorporate a rejuvenating scalp massage and complete the treatment with an aromatic pressure-point facial.
Duration: 105 minutes
Price: $237

I've done only the Absolut treatment and it was fabulous. We did a girl's time out in the spa and my girlfriend and I did it together. It was 110 minutes in total I think. First they do a full massage (you're on your stomach) and then you flip over and have a full facial. We were SO relaxed and I think both of us almost fell asleep until they spa treatment ladies left at the end to let the stuff on our face "sit" and then we started giggling and talking.

It's the BEST!

I have not done either of those, but let me throw in another twist.

The Aromastone Therapy is to die for!

disneybride96...is that the one where they put the warm rocks on your back while they massage? That sounds great!! My question is.....How does it work? Are you naked? :p GF and I have only gotten facials so everything else is new to us. We are the very shy type and don't want to be totally naked for a massage?

Is it just a back massage? That is what we want.

Thanks again!

Travis

Although both of those are wonderful treatments, I would probably have to opt for the seaweep wrap. There is something so comforting and detoxifying about being wrapped in warm seaweed, being wrapped like a baked potato, and then being put under a big down comforter and snoozing while you get a scalp and foot massage. Heaven!
And of course you get a regular message afterwards.

I have not done either but if she has never done a treatment and she is at all claustrophobic I would go for Spa Ritual. I only say this because I did not consider myself a total claustrophobic until I tried out the alpha-capsule on my last cruise and nearly had a breakdown. I had to get out of that after about 5 minutes. Anyways now I won't go near any wrap for the body. Now if she has no problems then the wrap does sound quite wonderful. Have a great time and enjoy!!!:wave2:

I have not had a wrap on the ship but found that having a wrap at the local spa produced what confal1 was talking about, a restricted/clausterphobic feeling.

I did have the spa ritual and it is the thing that my friend and gush about the most. Simply the most relaxing treatment we had anywhere, ever. Bliss! Plus the treatment is longer so that much more time to be relaxed. I enjoyed the facial part so much that I chose to buy some of their products and I'm very pleased with them.

She won't go wrong either way. When you take a tour of the spa, they will show you (her) the rooms the treatments take place in and will have pictures (or possibly live models) demonstrating the procedure so maybe she could decide for sure when she gets there.

I booked this for myself and I am super excited about it! I hope that it is as relaxing as it seems. Yay! :)

I've done the Stones, the Full body w/ facial, and the wrap.... I agree with Barb, the wrap is wonderful!!! (In fact, many moons ago, Barb answered some of my "wrap" questions.)

The seaweed wrap can be customized for either detoxifying or muscle tension. They slather you with this lovely goo and wrap you up in tin foil (yes, just like a baked potato). Then cover you with blankets. It's very cozy and comforting. Then they do a great scalp and foot massage. It's quiet, soft music, and quite possibly the sound of snoring.... :)

Then you shower off (there is an "in room" shower) and once you're all squeaky clean, you get a great massage.

If you are only choosing one, this is a great one to choose!!

-ps- For this treatment you're not inside a capsule...I think they used to have one of those alpha capsule things....but this is all done in a regular spa room.

These all sound so amazing...too bad I'm not 18 :guilty:

I'm booking the Heavenly Massage at Chill, closest I can get xD

From the descriptions, it seems like the wrap sounds nicer IMO! I'd love to be burrito'ed up for a little while to relax while getting massaged!! And, it's the cheaper one, so that would be AWESOME! :)

I have a very definite opinion about this! It is ONLY my opinion, based on my personal experience, but particularly since your wife has never been to a spa, to do the Absolute Spa Ritual. I have done both.

I greatly enjoyed the Ocean Wrap and back massage. It was very relaxing, and I loved being all wrapped up snug. The massage was fabulous. However, as another poster said, it is detoxifying. In fact, it is one of the most detoxifying treatments on their menu. I go to massages about once a month, so I know the drill on drinking LOTS of water before and after. But that night, I was hit with what I have to describe as a migraine and I've never had one before. I had to leave dinner and go to bed at 6:30pm. My husband brought me Tylenol and kept checking on me. I slept through the Pirate Party! I had another spa appointment three days later for a whole-body massage (yeah, I know - I was a totally spoiled on that trip) and I told the attendant what had happened. She said it was likely the impact of the wrap and that it has happened before. On the one hand, I guess my body definitely dumped a LOT of bad stuff. On the other - I was miserable for a while! (That second massage did help me bounce back, though....;))

Moving on - I did the Spa Ritual last week. It was SUPER relaxing. If I was just venturing into the world-of-spa, doing a facial and a massage would be a great way to do it. The attendant customized my massage and really focused only on the areas I wanted. I think I fell asleep during the facial. I know I drooled! (OK, TMI! Oh - that was during the massage part - not the facial. That would have been really bad!) But back to your wife - this way she could get a taste of both treatments relative to the facial and massage. I'm going to do it again in August when we do Alaska....that is how much I loved it!

Enjoy!
