Does anyone know if other Uniformed Services are eligible for the "Armed Forces Salute"? DH is an officer in the Public Health Service. I know that when Disney did the salute last year, PHS officers were included.

My husband and I have IDs that say "Uniformed Services ID". Is this the same ID that is issued to military?

I have no idea, but you could probably call and ask. I'm surprised they were included last year as part of the Armed Forces Salute, since they aren't considered Armed Forces. Were they included as part of the policeman/fireman salute or the military salute?

PHS was eligible as part of the military salute last year. I e-mailed Disney and they replied with a cut and paste of the information from the website. I am a little leery of calling Disney and asking after seeing so many posts about CMs giving incorrect information. The folks at the DIS seem to have better information on topics like this than the random CM who happens to get your phone call at the Disney switchboard.

My current plan is to go to the MK Main Gate when we get to Orlando and see if they let us buy the salute passes. If not, we will just pick up 7 day PHPs at the Shades of Green office at the Contemporary when we check in the next day.

This is my current plan too. My husband is in the OR Nat'l Guard but was not called to active duty. I still am just not clear as to what Disney means by "Active Military." The website says those in the Guard or Reserves called up to serve, but several on the DIS have said you can just show their orders for their annual two weeks and you can buy the Salute pass....I just plan on bringing copies of his two week orders and my military dependent ID and hope for the best. If not, it's no big deal to go buy hoppers at Shades of Green, since we will be at the Contemporary anyway. :)

Just keep in mind that the information on the DIS is coming from random CMs that answer the phone at the Disney switchboard as well...

My husband is in the ME Nat'l guard and I emailed Disney to see if he was eligible this was their reply:

No, it is not the same. This discount is being offered to the "Armed Forces" not Uniformed Services.

The way I read it is that you qualify for the passes if your husbands Guard duty orders are in effect at the time you purchase the passes. Good luck.

We'll be at WDW in Nov. when our son is on leave from the Navy. We have AP's but he'll get his free pass and of course we'll try for a Poly or BW WV room at 40% off.

Not according to Disney:

19,2003.)

Active members of the U.S. Military, including members of the U.S. Coast Guard

Members of the U.S Coast Guard are members of Uniformed Services not Armed Forces and they qualify for the offer. This is why I thought the offer might apply to other Uniformed Services (and also because I know that the Military Salute included PHS, who are definitely not military).

The U.S. Coast Guard is part of the Armed Services and fall under the Dept. of Homeland Security ( previously under the Dept. of Transportation ) in times of peace. In times of war they fall under the Dept of the Navy.

I stand corrected. May I also add, it is a benefit well deserved for our Reserve and Guard units.

The Military Dependent ID Card that I have also says "United States Uniformed Services" my DH is Active Duty Air Force...so the ID Cards are the same.

That seems odd to me - my ID card says Armed Forces of the United States...but I don't have one of the new CACs, so that may be the difference.
