Has anyone used the Armed Forces Salute Companion passes? These are the 5day 1 park per day passes which can be purchased by an active/retired/etc. armed forces military member for use by their spouse, family or friends. (for $99.00 each)
We are interesting in having our brother in law who is in the military and stationed on a military base, purchase 2 of those for us to use at an upcoming trip to WDW. The question we have is does would he have to attend the trip with us in order for us to be able to use them, for example, show his Military ID at the WDW gate? He was not attending the trip with us. Is the fact that he purchases them at his military base for us good enough? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

No, the military member must be on the trip as well. It is supposed to be for people traveling together(military people with family and friends)and not just for military members to buy for others to use. I hope this makes sense. Sorry, it's not the answer you want. Good luck!

Hi,
We were just there in April and used these tickets as my husband is retired military. You MUST be accompanied by the military member since they have to activate these tickets at the gate when they are first used. Also, I lost mine while we were there and City Hall in Magic Kingdom asked my husband for his and all other tickets in our party so they could identify which one they needed to replace. Thank goodness he was with me for that! We purchased these tickets at our local base and my husband had to give his ss# when buying them. Then at Disney we had to give him all our tickets and he had to activate them at the gate and show his military ID with his ss# on it. Sorry about that, hope it won't put a damper on your vacation. I would hate to see your brother-in-law buy you tickets can't use.

Yes, your brother in law has to be with you. The reason for this deal is so that the military member can spend time with family and friends at Disney World or DisneyLand and not so anyone can just have a buddy buy the tickets cheap for them. Many of these soldiers, retirees, Disabled Veterans have had to spend a lot of time away from their family and friends due to their Service to this Country and it is a way that Disney has decided to honor them. If you have no intenetions of spending time with him than you should buy the MYR tickets at regular price and try not to abuse something that came with a good purpose.

Thanks so much for everyone who got back to me. I figured no harm in asking. :) It's great that Disney is doing something for those in the Military so they can spend time with their family! Take care...
