Ariel wait times

We will be visiting MK at the end of June and will be trying to meet Ariel first thing. Will the wait times be reasonable without a FP shortly after rope drop (9:10 - 9:15)? To be honest, the pictures of the rope drop crowds scare me, and so I thought it might be best to aim to get there a little after? Is there a strategy to avoid the SDMT crowds while trying to get to Ariel's Grotto? Thanks.
