Ariel in Peter Pan ride??

OMG! I never noticed the topless mermaids either? I think it's kinda funny. :rotfl:
I lilke the hair better on the earlier mermaids.
And to the original question, yup, she looks like Ariel :thumbsup2

In a way I'm sort of disappointed to know this. I had hoped it was some great magical coincidence that one of the mermaids looked like Ariel...ironic foreshadowing?

Now that I know she was changed to look like Ariel, it's a little disappointing to this gullable, 37-year old Disney nut! :guilty:

Wrong...all of the mermaids were changed during the 1990 refurb of Peter Pan's Flight...and the mermaid was changed to resemble Ariel.

Awesome Pictures BamaFan121s!!! If you get time, you should post them on the Official DIS Hidden Mickey Thread (in my sig). I know it's not exactly a hidden "Mickey," but she's definitely hidden!!!

I know the sentiment shyjade! I kinda thought it was just cool Disney Magic! But, I do like it just the same!

Wow! DD was quite insistent that she saw Ariel on Peter Pan last summer. I was quite sure the mermaid had always had red hair. Did I block the topless ones out of my mind all those other times.:confused3

Maybe we need more research into mermaid genetics...what if Red head, purple clams and green fin is just a really popular combination of DNA? I think they are trying to be politicallty correct!!! j/k!:lmao:

:thumbsup2 We went on Peter Pan's Flight for the first time last week. DD5 was the one that pointed out the red-headed mermaid to me. She was 100% sure it was Ariel. Her face lit up when she saw it. She loves Ariel. Like the other post, I'm glad to see she was correct. I can't wait to ride it again with her.

:scared1: The older photos are a little shocking and funny at the same time. The new mermaids are a lot more appropriate for a "kid-friendly" ride. ;)

If you thnk that's racy, you otta check out the old Peter Pan movie! Those mermaids are hot!

I think it's hilarious that someone can pull up before and after pictures of such an obscure subject so FAST!

I have not seen the movie in a while but here is original concept art for the Peter Pan movie from Mary Blair.

I read a while back that there used to be three places to see "female nudity" in fantasyland alone in WDW. The Peter Pan's flight mermaids...the 20,000 leagues mermaids, and a portrait of a nude woman over the bar in Mr Toad's Wild Ride!

I also swear when I saw it back in the early 90's reissue that the mermaids in the Peter Pan movie were topless and it showed. The DVD that recently came out they all have their long flowing hair covering they're breasts.

Back to the oriignal topic, I Never noticed that it was Ariel in there, and will be sure to check it out...."Off to Neverland!"

I believe that some of the female centaurs in Fantasia were 'topless' too...

But heck, Donald Duck has been 'bottomless' forever...
