This is more of a vent than a "hey, can you help me" post, so here goes:

This is the year we got to WDW with my MIL (even years my parents, odd years, my MIL). I made all our ADRs 180 days out, had everything squared away, easy peasy. FIL, professed hater of all-things-Disney, decided a couple of months ago to come along. We were thrilled, even though it meant a complete hassle for me to change all the ADRs/information with Disney.

The one ADR we had issues with was CRT. I had a ressie for 6 that needed to be changed to 7. The CM couldn't do this but was able to find a table for 5 and a table for 2 within 5 minutes of each other. Fine. That works.

I just checked in on my ADRs yesterday to print them out and send to the in-laws and realized that the CRT ressie is actually a table for 2 at 5:45 pm and a table for 5 at 6:40pm. WHAT? :scared1:

I called and it's true - we have a split ADR an hour apart. With 4 adults and 3 kids, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Nothing they can do. Yes, I'm trolling the cancelled ADRs section, but am just so frustrated. I'm sure the CM didn't mean it, but I'm SO glad I was paying attention or this could've been pretty bad if we'd all showed up at 6:40 (the times he quoted were 6:40 and 6:45 - and he said we should all show up at 6:40 and the hostess would *try* to seat us together). Of course, the CM today said that this is a BIG NO-NO and should never have been done.
I'm now back to daily phone calls/checking online/trolling around here looking for a cancellation. MIL has said several times that she's always wanted to go here - it was the ONE ADR I reeeeeally wanted.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. :goodvibes

Keep trying all time time to find one that fits you. If not, I would check in at CRT and see if they can accomodate you.

Have you talked to a supervisor at the dining res line? They probably won't help, but I would plead your case to whoever would listen. It was the CM's fault.

That stinks. This is what I would do. All go there at 5:30ish, tell them what happened. It's possible they will find a table for all 7 of you. If they say, it can't be done, I would let your in-laws, go in and eat and you and your family go ride a ride or two and then come back and eat and they can walk around or do a few rides while you guys eat. I know it's not the best but at least you are both going to have a CRT experience.

Is it possible for you two ladies to take the kiddos and let hubby and FIL go eat somewhere by themselves?

I would keep checking as you planned but it you are unsuccessful I would all show up at 6:15 which is still within range of both ressies.

I agree with the poster who suggested doing CRT as a girls/kids night and letting the men folk go do something else if you can't get a res all together. Assuming everyone is okay with that. I know my husband has volunteered to sit out of BOG if I could find a 6 person res and not a 7 person...of course I can't find either so it's irrelevant but it's sweet of him to offer lol

I wouldn't do that. It is quite possible the people who were supposed to be seated at 5:45 will be treated as no-shows. Disney does not hold tables indefinitely, usually only 15-20 minutes. After that they will seat you if they can, but no guarantees. Being half an hour late they will be treated as if they are trying to walk up. If they were not seated they would also forfeit the cost of the meal.

I wouldn't do this. You'll be 30 minutes late for a prepaid reservation, and they won't need to accommodate you because you basically missed your reservation. (Especially b/c most CMs say to get there early to check in.) CRT's tables run almost like clockwork, so there really isn't that much wiggle room.

OP, good luck with finding a closer time. It's certainly possibly, although I understand first hand that it can drive you bonkers. I'm wishing pixie dust upon you! :)
