ARGGGHHHH!!!!! School vent!

send some lawyers my way! LOL

My parents have taken to coming to P/T conferences too.

Speech is the only real issue DS6 has, it's just the new speech teacher is not on the ball. Of course she's mad at me too because I requested no rewards (candy). My kids don't perform on command and get treats like dogs do.

I liked the older teacher better, she was invested in the kids.

I am such a bad example of a public school mom! LOL

BAMB, call a PPT, ask why it is Sept 25th and DS has not had speech as of yet for this year. That is unacceptable. Need a good lawyer, let me know.

we had a PPT scheduled for Nov of last year, we had it in May. Total waste of time. I just do the work on my own, mouth exercises, reading out loud. ETC. You know how hard it is to understand DS6, we just have to work at slowing down and forming his mouth the right way.
I talked to the teacher and the janitors had moved her into another room with the occupational therapist and they are rebuilding their room together. Now they should have been doing this over summer break but there's not much I can do now.

And you know all the other drama from the previous school year, to which that teacher has yet to return. I think I got her fired, shucky darn. LOL

My kids are in 4 and 2. Not too much homework here. The general reading everyday and maybe two worksheets. My dd9 just got into the gifted and talented program. Now that is a different story. She has had a lot for that. I told her that if it got to be too much that she would be taken out of it. Tonight is back to school night and I will hear more about the program and from her regular teacher. Wish me luck

Buffy I feel your pain. I felt it first hand when I was in school with reading. I am just glad that my kids are into reading. I was not and faked all my projects.

I would totally expect more work from the gifted program, but I would hope those teachers had a more defined syllabus to work with. I wish we had a gifted program DS12 would be in it for sure.

I was a supreme faker in school. OMG, I could BS my way through anything! LOL I do regret it now though, if I had done better in school I would probably be homeschooling. DS12 is getting to the point that I don't know a lot of what he is learning, things have really changed in 20 years. LOL

We'll we got a new super this year and THANK YOU!!! MY gosh.. he is actually visible in the schools and talks to the parents/kids when he sees them out @ events even the grocery. I personally don't like to vent out in public so we usually just do the How are ya, How is the families...but he knows I'll come in if there is an issue.

We have several teachers that give out syllabus especially the HS... some teachers have websites w/ daily info on it *usually the newer teachers*... We also have a computer system that we can check their grades daily and even gather homework assignments.. Now, some teachers don't upload like they are suppose to timely.. I give them one extra day and than I email them... I need to know if there is a problem so I can work w/ my children.

I'm the one who is usually going back over things they do in school.just to make sure they understand and don't have any questions.. I know there is an algebra teacher in our school system that needs BOOTED!!! I've got some stories on her.. MY Gosh.. the new thing she instituted is about STUPID~ talk about a waste of time and effort... DH forwarded the email to me because it deals w/ my stepson....and I shot DH an email back to shoot to her asking all types of questions.. it's 3 days later and my DH has not had a return email.. so today I asked him to forward it w/ a note about the lack of communication for the 2nd year in a row (DD had this teacher last year and her and I went round and round about her lack of teaching) to the Principal... no response as of yet... EEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! While the practice she is suggesting could work...but not in the perimeters of ONLY study-ing 3 minutes a night! WHAT? WHAT? They can't even open their books in 3 minutes!

I must have woken a sleeping bear. Hi teacher just called with homework modifications for tonight. I told her that Polly and I have agreed to disagree on the 1:10 minute time and that I feel the opposite if it takes him longer to process then pick out the most important parts Which is actually what she did. I've also called the school district to find an advocate. One of the woman that is a mediator is also in another position and she will be hopefully calling me tomrrow.

Sue you should still be able to hand pick at least some teachers in HS, the IEP follows through college I believe.
As for the allergies, can you request seats on the window side of the room?

The problem at the high school is I don't know the teachers well enough to know who will communicate and who won't. Our next door neighbor is a counselor at the HS so I am hoping she can help me. Keli has been lucky with most of her teachers at the HS, but them some not. Our new football coach, who teaches social studies, just moved in 3 houses down. He's be great for second semester, but not so much for the fall.

AS for requesting seats, Kyle really needs to be up front and if the window is in the back, that could be a problem. I know his math teacher (1st hr) and I am going to ask if she can open he windows in the morning once the heat starts. SHe can close once the kids come in. But as you know in the Northeast, winters can be brutle. Thankfully only one room he is in has no windows, but it is his favorite teacher and she loves him/understands his health problems. Won't move him for the world.

Hey, if you're coming to England I'll come and see you, and you can drive to DLP. But bring your own scrap stuff, *** its scrap famine over here:rolleyes:
Oh, and the money you save on healthcare will go on gas bills! But we're friendly too - and Belgium is also nice (we go every year for a week in February). Not too much white stuff in this area

Well, at back to school night my dds teacher said that homework should not take more than 4o minutes. She said if it is taking longer please tell her. We met with the gifted teacher and she has some high expectations. The kids are going to run an election. They have to learn about the candidates and then run a campaign and make commercials and flyers. They only meet two days a week for 1.3 hours. I wish her luck.
Everything else sounded good.
