Aren't the characters REALLY hot?

I heard (I don't remember when or where) that there's some sort of cooling systems for them, but.. I've always wondered what it was.

By the way. I had no idea where to post this and I'm leaving in about 10 hours and the time is passing SO SLOWLY.

I saw one of those very 'real' characters (Eeyore) pass out on a float in the parade one summer...it was (as always) very hot indeed and I felt so sorry for him. In usual Disney efficient manner...that float was out of the parade in record time! With a 'dead' looking Eeyore strewn across it....ahhh...

VERY hot! The company I sell for has a mascot, a bear. A few times I had the pleasure of wearing the bear costume to schools in our area. To help with the heat, there was a mesh screen on top of the head hidden by a cap to let heat out. In addition you also had ice packs in a harness on your chest and back. Even then my glasses would fog up. I do not see how those people wear them in Florida and I also understand when they have to leave before everyone in line gets to meet them.

i couldn't do that job. for one thing, i would pass out in the heat. and the other is that i would be terrified of these kids running at me - they would be running after me - i would be running the other way!

can you imagine being mickey or goofy just running from those kids? be flippin' hilarious!

Whenever we are standing in line for an autograph, I always mention if the characters could take a step back or sideways or whatever so they are standing in a shaded area, or if they are already in a shaded area I tell them how smart they are. And every time I get tons of high fives, thumbs up, and hugs from them!
