Area hotel/condo with kitchen

Hi everyone! We're considering trip to California and we'd probably do 3 or so days at Disney and then another 3 or 4 days exploring. Is there a good place to stay within driving distance to Disney as well as the beach and some other attractions? Ideally looking for something with a kitchen. Any advice is welcome - I know nothing about California! Thanks so much

We have stayed at dolphins cove multiple times. Units have a full kitchen They have 1,2, and 3 bedroom options. Units are so so IMO but they offer lots of space and the grounds are really nice.. They just had a brand new swimming pool and huge hot tubs put in that are very nice.

Homewood suites convention center for sure. Also look into residence inn main gate or convention center, Spring Hill suites, park vue inn.


I would not vrbo because they’re not close enough to walk. Also, they may be coming up in their closure date by the city of Anaheim.

For your DLR days, most people here advise choosing a place within walking distance to the parks. If you choose a hotel with a kitchen, like one of the hotels suggested above, you can use that as your base for sightseeing and DLR. I haven't stayed at the Homewood Suites on Harbor near the Toy Story Lot but I've been tempted to. And you can walk to the Toy Story Lot and take the shuttle.

The RI Maingate has everything you are looking for, plus grocery shopping, and a nice HOT breakfast. Stayed there many times over the years.

When does the ban on short-term rentals in Anaheim go in place? Normally, I would have looked at a vacation rental to base out of for a trip going various places next year. When I read a bit about the ban, it made me switch to checking out hotels instead.

I thought it was 1/18. And places could file for an extension so they weren’t shut down immediately. Gave time to find a buyer or long term tenant.

I think a lot of the villas I linked to above, in particular the ones in Hermosa village on Walnut St across the street from Mickey and Friends. Must have had an extension or exception. We have booked one for sept/Oct 2019.

I have stayed about a mile away at Homewood Suites Maingate and Hampton Inn. Both have nice free breakfast included.

My choice is Residence Inn Maingate. Close enough to walk, spacious enough we don't get on each other's nerves...
