Are your radio stations doing this??

My local radio station that I constantly listen to started inserting christmas songs into their line up the night of thanksgiving. They do this every year and they put a holiday greeting from a local merchant before every song so ya know it's coming. BUT this year they started to add patriotic songs like "Proud to be an American" into the holiday lineup. I wouldn't have even connected it with the holiday songs except they put a holiday greeting before it every time they play this patriotic song.

So, I'm wondering, does your radio station do this or is it just mine?

My DH's station doesn't do that - that's the only station I listen to!

104.5 in Philly has been playing all Christmas music since Thanksgiving.

I rarely listen to local radio stations other than National Public Radio... most of the time I am listening to CD's!

The music log is usually left up the auspices of the music or program director. They use so many different marketing ploys to decide what their market wants to hear and when. The total purpose is for the bottom line, ratings and sales.

If the PD of this station is making this decision he must have a reason for it.

My station has been playing ONLY Christmas music since Thanksgiving. There are people who LOVE it and people who HATE it...

I'm curious, what is the format of the station you listen to? It could explain why they're doing this.

I don't mind the christmas music I just find it weird that they are adding patriotic music in with the christmas music.

and since thanksgiving they have been playing only christmas music. I kind of like it today my son listened to it all day,

The one I've been listening to is just playing Christmas music all the time, I love it! Can't get too much Christmas music!!!!

By format I mean is it Country, Easy Listening, Urban Contemporary, Talk... like that!

Sorry, when you're in business as long as I've been in it, we talk another language!
