Paid holiday for me

January 16th (MLK Jr's day & my birthday) is also a paid holiday.

For us, 1/2/12 is indeed a paid holiday.

It is also the Rose Parade! You can't work on that day, that's all kinds of wrong.

My company (retail) is open 365 days. I work in the finance department, not in store operations, so I follow a Monday to Friday schedule. Paid day off on Monday, January 2. However, I can work on January 2 and take a different day off that week if I want to.

This stinks - it's a New Years Day tradition... I'm off work but many are not

If the bank is closed, we are off - we are off Jan. 2nd. The funny thing is that they gave us a floating holiday because Christmas is a Saturday and they thought we would be open on the 26th and then found out in October, the banks will be closed on the 26th We got a free floating holiday for no reason.
