Are you unsure about going to WDW solo?

I know I was ! But I just got back from a short solo trip, and it was fantastic! I was able to do what I wanted, when I wanted to. I could wait for fireworks, or eat instead of going to a parade. I could ride Star Tours as many times as I wanted. I enjoyed my trip so much, I'm going to do it again. Hopefully next year! :cool1:

It never occurred to me to be nervous (as an only child, I've done many, many things solo throughout my life). I can't wait to go again!

I'm going solo for the first time in less than 2 weeks!

Most of the time I'm so excited to think of all the fun I'll have by myself... then I start worrying that I should have someone along. I don't think that Space Mountain will be the same without hearing my husband giggling throughout the whole ride and I'm really going to miss Boma because I don't want to go by myself.

I'm sure it will still be worth going just to get my Disney fix!!

Much as I love my solo trips, there are a few things I still won't do solo, and Space Mountain is one of them. For me, it's because I need DH in front of me to grab onto. Also, I won't stay at POFQ, because it used to be DH's favorite hotel (before we joined DVC). But, like I said, I love my solo trips, and Missy 1961-they get better and better, every trip!

I used to go solo to DL, and although I was there "solo", I never was "alone": always started talking to people waiting in line with me. With some of them, I still have contact (teh usual Christmas card)

The only thing I didn't like too much, was going to a restaurant by myself, but I don't have problems with the Counter-service restaurants, or I just had a snack/pizza/burger/whatever while waiting for a parade or the fireworks.

Enjoy your solo-trip!

That is SO true. I think it's because you realize pretty quickly the freedom and fun you have while by yourself. You realize, there's nothing to be afraid or uncomfortable about. You're like a kid in a candy store.

Also, you learn about what restaurants are good to eat solo at.

I had a wonderful time. The best thing--I was able to sit and wait for Wishes & Illuminations. No-one was nagging me to do something! I had great viewing spots for both shows. And I didn't miss having people to talk to--everyone was so friendly, CMs & guests alike. It was truly one of the best trips I've ever been on.

I love solo trips for the same reasons you described. You get to go where you want, when you want, and you don't need to worry about anyone else complaining about being bored/tired/hungry/ready to leave. It's great! :)

I went to Boma for breakfast by myself and I loved it, I would not hesitate to go again solo, the waiter was wonderful

Debi, is that a picture of you with Off-Kilter? If so, I'm jealous. That was something else I got to do this trip--I sat and waited for the show to start, and just loved them!

I leave in 6 days for my first solo trip!! I am so excited, and not worried about feeling uncomfortable at all.

I am nervous I must admit. I have never ever done anything like this before and I am also having quite a bit of Mommy guilt about leaving my 7 year old DD in 2 weeks for a 3 day weekend. I know in my head that I will be fine once I am there, but I'm never alone anymore and I'm sure that I will have an adjustment period. I really wish that I could've talked a friend into going, but most of them don't get the whole Disney-thing and those that do, can't do it on such short notice. I'm going to be at Pop Oct. 22-24 and I am going to MNSSHP on the 23 and I'm going to do a lot of Epcot F&W time, but other than that.... I have zero plans. I keep going around and around about a TS somewhere, but I can't decide where or when so I guess it will be CS which is fine I guess. Until the free dining trip that we just had, that was all we usually ate anyway. I am very excited though, especially to get to go on the rides that I want to and as many times as I want to. Hopefully I won't chicken out on the "thrill" ones. :flower:

Thanks for the reinforcement! My first solo trip is coming up fast (not fast enough for me) and at times I wonder if it will be weird or scary or sad. But then I realize that none of those things are possible in WDW. I would love to hear what you did, where you ate, etc. Did you post a trip report. Actually, I would love it if you posted some details on here - or even sent me a p.m. I'm looking for suggestions of things to do :) TIA

I haven't posted a trip report yet. (got off the plane last Saturday, babysat my nieces Saturday night, one stayed overnight, and have had a busy work week), but I hope to post one soon.

It was a short trip--I arrived late Tuesday, went to MK on Wednesday, MGM & Epcot on thursday. (I had 2 days left over on a ticket). I stayed at All Star Movies because I'm a cheapskate, and I've been there before (I wanted someplace familiar so I would be comfortable alone). I did a character meal--lunch at Crystal Palace--and that was amazing. The food & the service (my waitress took pictures of me with the characters) were awesome! The parks weren't crowded--the only ride I had to Fast Pass was Soarin'. I went on almost everything at MK. I finally rode BTMRR, which I really liked. I walked out of lunch just in time for the afternoon parade. I decided to stake a claim to a spot at the end of Main Street for Wishes. That's almost impossible to do when traveling with my family--they don't want to sit & wait for anything! It turned out to be the Halloween version--and it was great! Did a short trip to MGM (don't like thrill rides, so I only rode Star Tours (twice) & Great Movie Ride), then spent the rest of the day at Epcot, eating & drinking. Once again, I staked out a space at a table by Germany & had the best view of Illuminations. I shared the table with a few others, so that was fun.

It was a great trip. I loved it, and I'm trying to figure out when I can go back next year! I might go for my birthday (May), or finally go after Thanksgiving but before Christmas.

I'm not married, and I don't have kids. But I have always "tagged along" with family when they've done trips. So I did miss the kids' reactions to stuff, but I did enjoy watching other kids having a nice time. I'm used to eating out alone--I do it a lot when I'm home--so I knew that that wouldn't be a problem. I was always treated nicely when I made my PS, and like I said, the waitress at CP was wonderful.

I recommend solo trips! I had a great time, and so will you! :cool1:

This year I am staying at the Holiday Inn International drive. Next year I am thinking of a week at a universal hotel and a week at either Animal Kingdom or Contemporay at disney. Alone so I can do what I want when I want. Its hard to plan though I work at a firm with 2 week shut down, so I have to work that to get my holiday.

Missy1961, I'm glad you had a great time! Usually I've traveled to WDW with others, which is wonderful of course. But this past spring, I had an AWESOME 10-day solo trip. I had a ball doing whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. I was so sad when the 10 days were over. I could have easily stayed another 10 days! :sunny:

Solo trips are a special kind of pleasure. :cloud9:

when i went solo to WDW - some times i would think 'oh my brother would love this.', etc.

but if i decide to go again - Solo - i will enjoy it 100% and try no to think like that.

basically for me it is either go solo or not at all.

what would you choose?!!
