Actually, I can understand not being satisfied with DVC if you had first been in a different timeshare company besides DVC-- it depends upon your being used to a certain way of doing things, you know? For example, if there was a poll on owning Marriott timeshare, I'd put "somewhat satisfied", because the rules are just so different from DVC. It has nothing really to do with the company itself, but I am bugged that I can't just call guest services to stay at any Marriott. Why do I have to call interval to stay at another Marriott resort?? Well, that's just the way it is, and there are lots of hidden costs, too. Now if I had owned Marriott first, I'd love it unconditionally, just like I do my DVC membership. That may be what is cgoing on here. Also, some people just are not timeshare people.

I am certainly not a timeshare person. However, DVC (and all its rules) have made me a great believer. I would not want the same week over and over again. Or, to stay, pay a fee for the week you stay as with some.

DVC is not perfect (if it was would we have anything to post about??).

I'm trying to book a room in Boston for the weekend and a trip to Vail, CO in February. We are not using DVC. My DH and I are sticker shocked at the prices. $450-1050 per night? We have been quite spoiled with the accommodations DVC has given us.

If I did not own DVC, I would not go to WDW as much and would stay in ASM, POR, CB. The fact that I can stay in a one bedroom for 10 days at OKW is fantastic.

I here the 1BR go for $500/night!

Also, I do not believe that anyone would redicule someone if they did not like DVC. I agree, it's not for everyone. That's why this poll exists.

My sister thinks I'm crazy for spending all that money on something that is not mine, aka 39 years to go and it's gone.

We love DVC and havent been home for the 1st time yet. We started with 170 pts and added on 50 more at VWL. We are going home in DEC and cant wait to hear our 1st Welcome Home from a CM.

I am totally satisfied with DVC. It does what I bought it for and DVC has upheld the written rules. I am very disappointed in some of the add on options though like DCL, CC, DC, II, ext as I think there is a lot of potential value for members in these areas that DVC is wasting.

I'm sure those that are not totally happy have their own reasons which I may or may not agree with. I do think many that are dissatisfied because they have expectations beyond the legal obligations and some feel they were mislead by the guides or misunderstood the program. Things like buy VB or HH and stay at WDW, no replacements for the free OKW passes, can't make short term ressies, the pool hopping situation, room assignements are all issues that affect certain members. The high weekend points are an issue for some.

The person may have been hoodwinked into buying at VB with no intention of ever staying there. I am actually surprised that there aren't more negative responses with all the lies and fraud that DVC sales staff uses to sell that albatross that VB has turned out to be.

I couldn't be more satisfied with my purchase! I just wish I had more points...
;)

Best regards,
Shontell

I could not be happier. We love DVC. We bought at BWV then did an add on there and when BCV opened we added on there. I just wish we could add on again soon.

Someone mentioned buying VB and going to OKC to us before we bought. We thought about it and thought it was a hokey sales pitch. However, our DVC rep, Linda Streetman, was very upfront and honest with us. She told us to buy where we were going to stay. Therefore, 6 contracts with OKW and one with BWV.

I've stayed at VB twice and found it to be very nice. Some of the people there (the guests) were less than civil. The beach is combed and beautiful, the hotel itself is very well designed and decorated. We love staying there just before going on the DCL.

We love DVC and my wife said the other day that we might need to look at getting some more points. So I was happy to start the process.

I may payoff my DVC loan or buy more points with a bonus coming in the near future. If we buy more points, it will be at Vero Beach.

I've heard negative feedback from these boards, but frankly, have not experienced one bad thing, yet!!!!

:D ;) :p

You wont hear anything negetive about our DVC purchase from me! We love it, and I think we have just the right amount of points for us. Of course, I KNOW I could always think of uses for more, but the reality is, we can't go down more often than that!

We went through the DVC sales pitch in 93 on our honeymoon. We didnt originaly join until 2001. However we have been to DW almost every year. The original reason we didnt join in 93 was because of the exclusion of any real discounts on park passes and the lack of a ceiling on the maintanance fee . We used to stay at the Caribean Beach or Port Orleans every year and always enjoyed our accomidations. It wasn't until last year when we visited with our 3 year old twins and realized we needed more space than the CB or the PO can give. This is when we decided that it was worth the money rather than coughing up $500 a night to stay at the Boardwalk. Over the long run we will save money staying at resorts such as the BWV or BCV . But if you are happy and comfortable staying off DW property than DVC is probably not for You. I cant see going to DW and staying in Orlando. I did this once and vowed never to do it again. Its worth every extra cent to stay on Disney property. But we are still waiting for our Park Pass discounts. By the way Linda Streetman was great .

Hey, the poll is closed!
Anyway, I didn't get a chance to vote, but we love our DVC. I can't think of anything bad to say about it, except possibly Disney Collection is too many points (in many cases still better than cash).

We joined the vacation club in 1991, at it's inception. Over the years it has become harder and harder to make a ressie less then a year out, and we cannot always do that because of the nature of my wife's job. So, I guess we are less then satisfied with the ressie system of the dvc. Otherwise it's very good.:(
