If you had asked me this before Sept 2007, I would have answered that I hate my job. But now I enjoy the people I work with. I am still in the same job, but have a new boss. My previous boss hated women and decided to clean house with a harassment tactic. One women retired because she got tired of him making her cry just about every day. Then he turned his attention to someone else and she decided that due to her health problems to go ahead and retire and another woman quit at the same time.
After they left, my DH felt that I was going to be the next victim and he would then be able to hire who he wanted in the different positions (There are only 6 people in our office).
My DH wrote a letter to the Board of Directors and told them that if they did not do something about the harassment coming from the President, they he would sue the organization. He also looked at filing an EOC complaint for the woman who left with the health problems, because the President always made derogatory comments about her weight and how much she would eat. This wasn't just in from of staff, but in front of other people that had come to the office for a meeting. Totally unprofessional behavior.
Since we are leased employees, to be able to get health benefits, thru Landrum Professional, they had to an investigation into the allegations. They contacted the last two people that left in May of 07 for their story, they talked to everyone in our office. Unfortunately there were really only three of us left that had any time with him. Two the employees were brand new - less than a month at the office.
Those that had seen him in his prime self absorbed self told pretty much the same story to the investigators. How cruel he was to these women. How he regarded women and some men that had worked in the office.
On Sept 11th the Chairman of the Board and the Treasurer came to the office to let us know that he had retired effective immediately and he would not be allowed in the office while we were there. In fact they had security guards at the office until they could schedule a day for him to come and get his personal stuff. We changed the alarm code immediately after that.
My new boss is really easy to work with and the people that are here are great. We did have one girl for 10 month, but she moved out of state. She was schemer and had plans to move into a position that was not even available.
I got the accountant position when Suzanne retired in May 07. They replaced my position with a person (see above witch). I know that if Ed had not left, then she would have really played him to get what she wanted. As it was after he left, she played the board. So I was not sorry to see her go.
Our current cast of characters, include myself - been here 15 years come May; Ron - 2 years in July; Tommy - 2 years in August; Bryan (Pres) - 2 years in Jan 2010; and Shannon - 1 year in July. We all get along great and feel very comfortable talking to each other.
If I am rambling it's because it's getting late and I am going to go to be now.
