We looked at DVC on our honeymoon in 1999. I wanted to do it (we had the cash upfront), but my DW wanted us to buy a house first. As a wise new DH, I understood her reasoning and agreed. We went back in 2002 (purchased our home the year before), I had researched DVC and knew the program very well. I didn't think my DW wanted to do it, but she surprised me by saying let's do the tour again. At this point I thought she was just wasting our time. At the end of the tour (I was bored as I already understood DVC) she turned to me and said "let's do it". I nearly fell on the floor. Ten years later, we have no regrets. We love owning DVC and have added on several times as now we have three kids. I'm glad we purchased when we did, because today we have less disposable income. DVC is our "Happy Place".

I won't say I wouldn't do it again, but at today's prices I'd sure think long and hard about it.

And I would look at ALL other options because the prices and quality of the other options are simply too good to ignore.

If I were buying DVC now, I'd ONLY consider resale -- I just wouldn't pay the direct prices. If I wanted something that is not available resale, I'd wait until it is.

I certainly would recommend anyone buying today buy resale, and the reason I wouldn't buy today has as much to do with our family as with the conditions of DVC - our kids are teens now and unlike some Disney families, ours has - well, not outgrown Disney - but has an interest in doing other things.

We didn't think we could afford DVC and kept avoiding the tour, etc. Then in 1999 we took the tour during our Christmas vacation and ended up buying 240 points (enough to stay at BWV during Christmas in a 1-BR for a week every year). We now own 600 points and stay in a studio for 7-10 days in May and October and 14 days in a 1-BR during Christmas (we always leave on December 26 because of the crowd levels). Our first contract is at BWV (which we really consider as a our home resort...love, love, love the location) and the remaining points are at AKV (which we like but feel the location is really "out there" away from most parks). We love the AKV 1-BR because of having 2 bathrooms...that is nice! During Christmas we do a split stay...the first week is in a 1-BR at AKV and the second week is in a 1-BR at BWV!

We have never regretted buying into DVC and wish we had done it sooner!

we have been members over ten years and are going on our 13th annual 4th of july trip in 2012.I can say we have no regrets on becoming members other then we wish it could have started a few years earlier.

We have owned for the last couple of years and love it. We got tired of staying at the smaller hotels and enjoy the extra space at DVC as the family has grown. We look forward to each vacation and are planning our first Christmas time one now with the whole family.

We purchased first points in 2001 then added on in 2002 and 2003 ....for us the 320 point we have works....we 've taken too may trips to count hosting family and friends the best being my parents 50th anniversary trip....something we never would have done without DVC.......we feel at the time we made the right choice for us...

We have owned since 2008, no regrets since the first stay!!! We are satisfied with our decision, and we have taken so many more trips and stayed in better accommodations than we could have hoped for paying cash over the last 3 1/2 years. Only thing that could have made it better was buying in sooner.

I could not be more happy with my purchase of DVC , unless I was on the way to staying at one of the resorts .I waited 10 years before buying in mainly because of the cost . I really did not understand the savings that would add up over time . I now own at 2 resorts small contracts for each ,but I plan to add on more points as time goes . If you have a true love of all things disney you will not regret buying in youself .

We're still very happy and have never felt any different. We bought in 2004 and were going 3-4 times a year. That's had to drop to twice a year but we still love it. The great discount on the AP and other perks are great and the expansion of DVC properties gives us new experiences for years to come. I'm just hoping we can still afford to go once I retire and my frequent flyer miles aren't available. I guess it'll be time to move to Florida!
