are you glad you bought the DVC?

Chose #2 - very glad we purchased. Although "spendy" as far as points are concerned, we would have never stayed at GCH at DLR without it. I made 2 trips to WDW and 3 stays at GCH last year through DVC and will be doing so again this year. Well worth the purchase.

The only regret I have is that we didn't purchase more points in the beginning. We've done a lot of add ons and own at 3 resorts.

Oh let's see... I went to Disney once in 1974, once in 1993, once in 2005, became a DVC member in 2006, and have gone 4 times (or 28 days) since becoming a member. Yep! Definately has cost me more money. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. I voted #2.

We are absolutely thrilled we bought DVC. That's above and beyond being just glad... Voted choice #1.

I've only been a member for a year and a half and I voted "very glad". We've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of it already.

We love it. We would not be able to stay at these resorts if we didn't purchase into DVC membership. We stayed at AKL for the first time 6 years ago and vowed never to stay off site again. It adds so much to the vacation when you are immersed in everything Disney. And as everyone knows, it much more convenient.

Hooked on it, can't get enough and Drag-N-Fly couldn't have said it better, for me it's not a financial investment, it's an emotional investment in my family and friends. The memories we've made since we bought in 2000 don't have a price. Yes it's not cheap but when I vacation away from DVC it isn't any cheaper.

I don't regret my decision to purchase at all!

We've owned DVC for 11 years, and I can't tell you how many times we have commented on how it was the best thing we ever did!

I voted so glad, maybe not a financial investment, but an investment in our mental health! We have been members for 6 years, and our family has had many happy vacations . We just planned a spur of the moment long weekend trip for the end of this month. Our stress levels are high, and our family solution to this is a trip to Disney! Good airfare was available, annual passes in hand, and voila stress be gone!

We would go to WDW evrey tear anyway. So might as well stay at the bset resorts thay hav. My family love it now thay get to go to WDW and don't have to pay for a room. We rotate who come so every 3rd year thay get to go. Some trips we make by our self.

It is definetly not a financial investment of any kind....however because i finished paying for it a few years ago, it sure feels better feeling like your accomodations are "free" in a sense.....As others have said, because of DVC I have spent WAY more money at WDW then I would have without it, but I could care less. You cant take it with you, and their are great memories!!!

I was doing the math, and I figured that if we stayed on value season at WL every year in a regular room (not a villa) it would take us about 8 years of staying in a studio villa at WL DVC to break even from our initial investment. After that we'd be actually saving money on vacations

So while we would be spending more at WDW, in theory, I don't know if we would really be spending more. We're going to take a family vacation every year one way or the other. This would be a good way for us to pay for it as we go in smaller chunks.

Still, I am not 100% convinced it's right for us.
We are dreaming of the Adventures by Disney Germany trip for 2011 (when Bella is older). If we bought the DVC and saved points + borrowed points, it would make a BIG trip like that much easier to pay for.

We spend more money on traveling than before. Now we visit three times a year and before it was once. We buy annul passes that cover all three visits, and with the DVC discount, really don't cost more that what we paid for a one-time visit in the past. We eat out all of the time at home, so we really don't spend a whole lot more on that either. It's the plane tickets to get us there that is costing us more than before. Oh well--you can't take it with you when you go, so we may as well enjoy it while we are still here.

All in all, the best investment we have made for our family. College education and retirement will find a way, we are enjoying them while they are little.

I chose the second choice because I don't view DVC as an investment. I do think that it is one of the best purchases I have ever made!

I waffled over that a little as well, but chose the first one. I don't consider it a financial investment, but I do consider it an investment in our happiness. I doubt I'll be saving any actual money, because it's just too tempting to upgrade room, number of nights etc. There's no way I would have paid out the cash rates for a studio at BWV let alone a 1 bedroom. Before I bought DVC I always stayed at the moderates.

after our first trip home my wife joked (I hope it was a joke) that if we ever divorced we would have a bigger custody fight over the DVC membership than the kids.
