I guess I am not a teacher-hater, just someone who is sadly disillusioned with teachers and the whole teaching profession.
I used to work as an assistant teacher in a nursery school, with ideas of becoming a real, certified teacher. But sadly, I abandoned all desire to ever teach by watching what I saw the "real" teachers do. I always thought teachers should be upstanding, caring people, but that is not what I experienced. These teachers at my school do things that seemed very unbecoming, like constantly engage in backstabbing gossip (usually making fun of me and other assistants, as I eventually found out

); and be very hypocritical - say they treat every child like an special individual, but after school, they would make fun of certain "less than perfect" children (and especially parents!

) and truly "get off on it" like a power trip! There were some real bad teachers at my school, and it left a sour taste in my mouth. Eventually, I went into another profession. It just blew my mind that these teachers could see absolutely nothing wrong with teasing and gossiping about people behind their backs!
I know all schools and teachers aren't like that, but unfortunately mine was bad enough to dampen my opinion of teachers. I guess I always thought that teachers should be a cut above the rest - but sadly, I the ones I knew were all too human.
