Are we there yet? Can we eat yet? YES to both!

Just got caught up with your update. Man, that is such a good idea that you have UNO in your bag to play when waiting for a show to start. I'm going to have to start doing that.

Our last Disney Day:

We started off this day with a breakfast I was really looking forward to: Whispering Canyon Café!

We got up early, got the kids up, and decided since it was so early we would drive to the Wilderness Lodge. It was FREEZING cold and misty and overcast. We made it to WL with about 30 minutes to spare.

IMG_3542.jpg

This was my first look at this resort, and only my second visit to a deluxe (the first being the Poly for our Ohana dinner), and I was rather excited to take a look around. The kids sat in the HUGE lobby, they were still half asleep, while Chris and I wandered around a bit.

IMG_3547.jpg

I think this is a beautiful resort. You almost feel like you are up in the Rocky Mountains (not that I would know, never having been there, lol). The inside was warm and cozy and there was this HUGE Christmas tree!

IMG_3548.jpg

We went outside to check out the pool area, which is also really nice, but I have to say here, that the place was a mess. It looked like there had been a huge party going on right before, the drains were clogged with cups and other trash. Very disappointing for a deluxe.

IMG_3556.jpg

One thing that was kind of weird: There were ducks in the pool! Now, I love ducks, we have a ton in our backyard pond, however, in the pool? I didn't like that.

IMG_3560.jpg

Anyway, we went back inside at 7:30, gave them our name, and Chris proceeded to play with the Lincoln Logs in the kids’ corner while we waited.

They called us in about 10 minutes, and we were seated at a round table, near the kitchen. Our waitress was super nice, and her daughter was the greeter/hostess. The waitress, I forget her name, was totally in love with Jacob, he was charming her near to death. We had a few laughs with her, but nothing like I was expecting from other reviews, with the ketchup and refills and all that.

Now to the food: I didn’t like it. At all. It was the same stuff you get on the Bounty Platter in the food court, just more of it. I don't know what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it.

I was so disappointed; I didn't even take a pic, until Chris made THIS concoction on his plate. He said he had to drown it with ketchup to make it taste good.

IMG_3571.jpg

We all had smoothies and cokes to start:

IMG_3569.jpg

And then we got the WCC Skillet: Eggs, bacon, sausage and Mickey Waffles. The Mickey waffles were VERY GOOD. That’s the only thing Deshea and I ate off the whole platter.

IMG_3572.jpg

That was our WCC experience. I doubt I’ll ever go back here, unless maybe for dinner. I felt it was a waste of a table credit.

We left there and drove back to the CB. I wanted to take a little tour of POR and PFQ on the way, to see if maybe that’s somewhere we may want to stay in December. The guard let us in and we drove around a bit. It’s nice and clean, but looks like the apartment buildings you would find around here. I guess that’s the point, huh??

Side note: A fellow Disney-freak just forwarded me an ad from Craigslist for a Disney Pressed Penny Collection. Its rather nice, its in the booklet and all. They want $40 for the set, if any of y’all are interested. Seems to be about 80 coins, in two booklets.

Anyway, after that tour we went back to CB to catch a bus to Animal Kingdom, where we would spend most of the day, until it was time for dinner at Chefs de France, for Chris and I.

I don't think the breakfast are that different at any of the resturants, unless you are in one of the resturants that feature food from a different part of the world. Although, I have not tried WC, yet...the dinner and lunch seem to appeal to me more. But, I would like to tour WL it looks so well done. I wonder what was up with the messy pool area. and as for the ducks we have seen them swim at POFQ, POP, and ASSp...I have seen them in several TR's of other resorts so I think they are everywhere. In fact our stay at the Royal Pacific at Universal has ducks swimming right along side of us, they didn't even bother to get out of the pool while the people were swimming. With all the fresh water ponds in the area you would think they would swim there. But, I guess the pools only have people to contend with, not fish nipping at their feet or alligators

Danny loves POFQ he says each and every time (I just wait each time we talk about or walk through) if New Orleans really looked like that I wouldn't mind walking down there every once in a while....I like the quiet and quaintness of the resort. I have only been to the main blgd of POR but it does look like a nice resort.

Can't wait to hear more...

My cousin and her hubby and new baby are probably coming with us in December, we are thinking about POFQ or POR for next time, she said they stayed at WL their last visit in May, and loved it too, but it's a bit out of our price range for this trip, because it looks like we will have to pay for dining. :scared1:

It's just crazy that the ducks aren't afraid of people! I imagine a ton of kids try to catch them!

I think I'd like to try Kona for bfast next time, it gets a ton of positive reviews, have you tried it??

Isn't WL just beautiful. We went once for dinner (and it was good), and I loved the place. It's a dream of mine to stay there.

Sorry to hear you weren't impressed with the WL breakfast! DH and I were just discussing breakfast options at WDW and I mentioned the WL skillet. But you are right---it truly isn't that different from the bounty platter in the food courts! I didn't even think about that.

As for the antics, I think they just have those at dinner time. We ate there once at dinner, but we were seated in the back room, which was FINE with us because we weren't feeling well and didn't care to be in the loud dining room. However, I do remember walking to our table and having to dodge kids on wooden horses. It seemed like a lot of fun---and the food was very good at dinner.

At least you enjoyed the ambiance of the lodge! I have to agree-it's beaaaaaautiful. It remains very high on my list of favorite resorts.

I have the final three updates done, saved in my computer, so here's the first...

SORRY SORRY SORRY I’ve been gone so long! Life has been HECTIC!

My 4Runner died, and we had to do some spontaneous car shopping… Everyone got the flu/sinus stuff AGAIN,
I’ve been getting ready for our Smoky Mtns trip in 2 weeks… AHHHH!

I ended up with this…

mycar.jpg

She’s got rear DVD, navigation, XM radio, heated seats, all leather, sunroof, and most importantly, in this cold weather, REMOTE START. I loveeeeeeee it.:love:

Anyway, back to the story, I forgot to mention, on the way back to CB, we made a wrong turn at Albuquerque, and ended up at the Epcot Main Gates. (???) Apparently this happens to people a lot, bc there was a special turn around spot! :confused3

*Kudos to those who get the Bugs Bunny reference*

We grabbed a bus to Animal Kingdom, and when we landed, made a beeline for the Safari.. I LOVE THIS RIDE. I think the Disney people were having an awesome day when they designed this experience.

At one point we saw a baby elephant running around, apparently looking for his momma. If you haven’t seen an elephant run, well, it’s quite funny. :rotfl:

Some pics from the safari…

IMG_3587.jpg

I just thought this one was pretty.

IMG_3599.jpg

IMG_3610.jpg

Next, I really wanted to go on Kali River Rapids – I don’t know why, bc this ride is very short and you get VERY WET.

Deshea didn’t want to, but I told her since I did Space Mtn, she had to do this with me. I didn't take any pics, didn't want to get my camera wet, but it was VERY SHORT and VERY WET. We did wear ponchos, and handed them off to others in line when we got out.

Everyone wanted to ride EE again, except me of course. The line was ridiculous, like 75 minutes, so we skipped that and went over to It’s Tough To Be a Bug.

IMG_3630.jpg

I love this show! We all laughed a lot and Jacob jumped a mile high at that part when they stick you! I think the detail in the tree is amazing, and since we waited in line a bit, we got to see a lot of the animals carved into the tree.

Next up was Dinosaur. On the way over there, Chris and I had a little tiff, and stopped speaking, so I was bummed and didn't take many pics.

IMG_3641.jpg

Im going to tell ya’ll right off, I HATE this ride. I don't like the dark or the jerkyness, but my family loves it and its not SCARY, so I got on it. Jacob loved it. He hooted and hollered like it was the best time ever. Guess that’s what its all about, making the fam happy.

Next, I got one of THESE babies…. I had waited the whole trip for one! :thumbsup2

IMG_3654.jpg

The last thing we did was Festival of the Lion King – this was soooooo nice. It was my first time and Deshea and I LOVED it, the guys thought it was just okay.

IMG_3665.jpg

IMG_3661.jpg

Next we parted ways.. The kids were going to go to the hotel and chill until their ressie at PlanetHollywood, and Chris and I were going to EPCOT for our dinner at Chefs de France!

Yah for another update!

Isn't the detail on the tree of life just amazing, I could stay at it the entire time we're at AK.

Shame on the boys for not liking Festival of the Lion King, luckily you guys were still able to enjoy it.

Can't wait to hear the rest:goodvibes

How could the guys NOT like Lion King. It is so awesome. I am amazed at all they can do.
I so want a Miceky bar right now!

:thumbsup2 Great new ride!

Oooo! the smokies in two weeks...how nice. I just hope these ice storms go away before them for you guys.

I have to say I was stumped on your bugs bunny play until I read your line about it....guess, I did not watch it enough. But, remembered AFTER (dud--moment) the mention :rotfl2:

I love the Tree of Life, the detail is awesome! sounds like a good time at AK, we like the Dinosaur ride --don't know why I normally don't like dark rides either. We missed FOTLK the last two trips I am hoping to catch it this year.

We can't wait to go... Our anniversary is valentine's day, and then we leave the 17th..

At least you got the BB reference, I was worried that no one would!

I love the tree too... its just pure Disney, how much time and effort and detail is in it.

I got it. It's because I think it's the only time I have heard anything about Albuquerque. LOL! I still have no clue where it is. (is it new mexico?)

Mickey Bar! I so want one right now!

Yeah, Kali River Rapids and I don't have a very good relationship.....I just seem to be the one that gets soaked on it, and I'm not a big fan of making puddles everywhere I go. :lmao:

Sorry you guys did not enjoy your breakfast at WC. I have come to realize that breakfast is pretty much "the same" no matter where you go, specially if it is buffet style.:confused3

Congratulations on your new car. :thumbsup2

And I love the pictures at AK. I don't like Dinosaur either. Not my thing but It's Tough to be a Bug is one of my favorites.

Anyways, can't wait to read more. Specially about your dinner at Chefs de France.

LOL. I actually don't know. But that sounds right!

Update coming right up!

Chris and I got to EPCOT and decided to walk around the countries a little, as we hadn’t squeezed that into the trip yet. We started at Canada, and just in case, checked for ressies at Le Cellier. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

We went over to England and I took a few pics…

IMG_3691.jpg

We made our way over to France.. and I gave my name, even though we were an hour and a half early. We were pretty hungry, so we were very pleased when they took us early!

IMG_3699.jpg

IMG_3698.jpg

IMG_3700.jpg

On a random note, the forks were HUGE.

Our waitress was Sophie, she had the cutest accent! It was a little hard to understand, but she used A LOT of gestures to make up for it. She was also sweet and cute as a button. She brought us warm baguettes in paper sacks, with lots of fresh butter, to start.

IMG_3701.jpg

Chris had the lobster bisque to start: He said it was very very good, definitely would get this again.

IMG_3703.jpg

We both got the tenderloin with peppercorn sauce, with haricots vert, and potato gratin. Now how these are different from green beans, I’m not sure, but boy are they tasty. At any rate, the steak was… beyond delish, cooked perfectly, specially with the sauce. Potatoes, just kind of regular.

IMG_3704.jpg

For dessert, I had to try crème brulee. Well, guys, here’s the question. What the heck is the big deal about this stuff? It was tasteless. I mean, borderline nasty. Chris had this cake, OMG, it was… sinful. I totally chose wrong. I’m trying to find the pic of the cake with little results, but to describe, it was layers of dark chocolate cake, with chocolate mousse layers between with raspberry sauce, I think… I could have eaten about nine slices of this stuff. Luckily he shared with me!

IMG_3706.jpg

Oh I found the pic! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..

IMG_3707.jpg

We rolled our behinds out of there, stuffed. We grabbed a bus back to the hotel, packed a little bit, and played cards till bedtime.

Next up… departure morning.

sounds like a wonderful way to end the evening...and I do not care for Creme brulliet (sp) either...have had at one of Emeril's resturants in New Orleans can't think of the name at the moment.

Have a great day!

YUM that cake looks great...all the food did.
I have had Creme Brulee once, just a taste, and it was OK. I do plan to give it a try on the cruise though. If I don't like it, I can get something else instead.

So I got a pin code via email today - 35% off Moderate... In my date range! Woooo! I can get a package for myself, Chris and Jarrott for 1900, thats with dining, at POR for 5 nites, 6 days. The only thing holding me back is flights.. It's about 850 for the three of us, round trip..

What's y'all's thoughts??
