Are we crazy?

My husband and I booked our belated honeymoon in Disneyland for 5 days early next year. Everyone we have told said that 5 days is way too long to go without kids and not worth it. Neither of us have been since we were teenagers so we've never expierenced going as adults, paying for things ourselves, etc. We both felt relatively confident going for 5 days and taking it slow, but with the feedback we're getting I'm just wondering if maybe we are going too long?

No! That sounds fantastic. I love taking my kids, but I will very much enjoy the day when we can do exactly what you're planning. My husband is sitting here vehemently agreeing. There's so much to do. The attractions are wonderful, as is the dining, but just wandering and noticing and taking in the magic is wonderful too. Give yourself the time! And go on weekdays rather than the weekend if you can.

Nope! Not crazy at all! A couple of years ago we did 3 days and it wasn't nearly enough time to enjoy everything and we felt rushed, so we doing 5 days in December for our anniversary. There is a lot to do and enjoy without kids, and it is nice to not have to rush around to try and cram everything in.

More days the better . We actually never been there without our kids but if I could afford (both time & money) to go there with DH for 5 days, I will definitely do it! We always walk 30,000+ steps a day when we are there so it'll be nice to have the luxury to take it slow and enjoy every detail of the parks. Also it means more time for romantic slowpaced dinner! Having dinners at places like Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle would be so romantic when I don't need to worry about my kids screaming and running in the restaraunt or take them to go poop after the first bite.

I think it depends on how much you love Disney. I know five days is too long for my husband, but it isn't for me. Thus, I now go with my mother-in-law! She loves Disneyland and so do I. We get five day parkhoppers and we have a blast. We do like to ride certain things two or three times. Or four. Also, we would never do five days during the week in the off season. If you make sure you do Fantasmic, World of Color, and the Fireworks on three separate nights, you'll fill up your time more than you think. We always get there 30 minutes before opening, hit the parks hard, and rest at the hotel early or late afternoon. Evenings are focused on shows, usually.

My husband and I did 5 days as a part of our honeymoon (5 days at Disney followed by a short 5 night cruise). 5 days was not too much, and they were week days with low crowds. We only did one early morning and the rest of the time we got to the parks around 10 am and stayed until the park closed (which was early, 9/10 pm). We also went back to our room mid day for a "nap" pretty much every day. We always had a nice relaxing dinner and we spent a little time at ESPN Zone watching whatever game was playing.

You are NOT Crazy! My Fiancée and I are honeymooning in Southern CA in Oct/November-2 nights in San Diego and 7 at DLH and we are (late) 40-somethings! (Her kids are grown--25 and 21). We have 5 day ph tix, Halloween party tix, and another day for doing a few things around L.A. non-Disney related. We've done it before (this is our 3rd DLR trip together and we've had 5 day tix each time.)
So go, enjoy, relax! It's a great (different) experience to do Disney this way!

Thanks everyone!!! I definitely feel better about staying so long. We had to wait a year after being married to go anywhere due to my husband's new job requiring him to work a year before time off so it's long overdue!

No kiddos here and I go for at LEAST five days every trip ... I like to take it easy - enjoy all the shows, parades, nighttime spectaculars, etc., and then get my Happy Hours in at Downtown Disney along with soaking up some rays in the pretty California weather poolside.

And, of course, Napa Rose Chef's Counter! Gotta get my steps in before that decadent meal!

My teenage daughter and I go for 5 days and always leave feeling like we needed more time. You'll be fine!

Don't tell your friends, but we usually go for 12-13 days each December for our "vacation". (We also go for 5-7 days in the spring and summer, and long weekends every couple months.) And even after 12 days we are ready to go back in a few weeks. It gives us time to see what we want, yet be able to actually relax.

5 days with no kids sounds very relaxing! I think more time is better than less. No rush or worrying about doing everything. You'll have plenty of time to do everything and just enjoy yourselves! Plus you can take in all of the shows and have fun long meals when you want. Have you checked the schedule for when you're going? Just remember if it's off season so try and fit in a weekend for fireworks and shows like Fantasmic which can be weekends only. You could also consider doing offsite things on different days too to break it up. You could buy 3 day park hoppers in advayand upgrade them if you want to go for 5 but you aren't out anything if you decide not to.

There are a lot of people that don't get the Disney fun and are rude about adults going without kids so don't let anyone else ruin your fun! You could also consider going to San Diego if you want some relaxing beach time. Ironically I think my DH and I had more fun on our trip to SD doing things like the zoo and sea world pre-kids than we did when we went years later with them! Have a wonderful time! And please tell me you are going to wear those adorable bride Minnie ears!

DH and I are going for a week next month. We're doing a couple of other things, but 6 of those days, at least some of the time will be spent at the parks. It's been a few years since we were there, and we've never stayed near the parks, as we used to have family there, so this will be a whole new experience for us, and we have no worries about it being too long!

Because there always has to be an ascending opinion. For me, as a solo traveler, 5 days would be a lot, if all I was doing was Disneyland. If I was doing 5 days with partial days elsewhere it would be fine.

My next trip will be 5 days with afternoons on 2 - 3 of those days spent away from the park vs 3 full days in the parks.

I have to agree that five days is quite a bit. But if you enjoy dining and boozing you can probably fill all of those days.

No way is 5 days too long with or without kids. It's the happiest place on earth! The more the better!! My wife and I don't have kids and we always go for 5 days. Right now we are planning a 7 day trip for early next year. You can never spend enough time at Disneyland.

For myself and DH, 5 days would be too long, we are happy with 3 days at DLR. That said, everyone has a different touring style and priorities, if you think that 5 days works for how you want to vacation you should absolutely go for it!!!!
