We have a 2 wk trip to CA later this year. Budget is looking good except for all the eating out. Breakfast is covered at the hotels. We are buying food items once we arrive to make lunches. Looking for ways to trim dinner costs some.

Do places like Chilis, Applebees, Red Lobster, Friendly's & other chains have printable coupons online? I've searched a few places, but the sites look outdated or like my computer will fill up with spyware if I click anything.

Looking for more legit sites. I'm an Entertainment Book member for my home state. I wouldn't be able to get local CA restaurant coupons from their site, would I? I doubt it. That would be expecting too much for my membership cost. ;)

You could get a CA entertainment book.

I don't have an answer for you, but thought I'd let you know that Friendly's is not in CA.

Unfortunately, I would have to buy 3 books (possibly more) to cover the areas we are traveling to. We are doing lots of cities & will only be in each area a few days, so probably not worth paying $30 for each city. Good idea however otherwise.

Gasp! No Friendly's? No sundaes?

Its ok. I was just rattling off names. Any restaurants will do really. Thanks for the info. I'll fill up on Vienna Mocha Chunk before I leave then.

You had to go and mention Vienna Mocha Chunk, now didn't you? :sad2:

I miss Friendly's sundaes.

If you sign up for some of their "email club" type things on their websites your likely to get coupons every so often.

Most of them will send you a coupon right away that's good for a couple of weeks, so you might want to wait until closer till the time you leave.

Check the Sunday paper. I find coupons for Olive Garden, Applebees, and Uno's a lot. Also, when are you travelling? If you sign up for Mypoints, you can get points that are good for gift cards from a lot of chain restaurants. Even if you never buy anything online, just clicking the Bonus mails they send adds up fast.

Also, sign up for the e-mail list from each of the chains. They're forever sending coupons for free appetizers, $5 off, etc.

You could also try Restaurant.com they sell gift cerrificates at reduced prices, and often have 50-60% off sales. Sign up to get the notices. Just type in the zip where you will be staying, and if any restauranats participate, they'll pop up. I'm not sure how "nationwide" it is, but it's worth a shot! I recently went out of town to a convention (same state, 6 hours away) and spent $12.50 on gift certificates that saved us $75 on our dinners for the weekend....and I also had the BEST spaghetti carbonara I've ever had in my life!!!

I know that Red Lobster sends out a coupon for a free appetizer to thank you for becoming a member of their "club" online. The coupon is only good for two weeks, I think. So you need to wait until just before your trip to sign up. Seems to me it took a day or so to get the email and coupon.

My Entertainment book membership online lets us print out coupons for other cities. I just change the address to where we are going...

For instance, we live in Clermont, FL. I just changed the address to Los Angeles, clicked on Dining and then "printable coupons" and there they were!

Try it out!

Always be sure to check in the lobby and with the front desk at the hotel(s) you'll be staying at. Some of the best deals I've found while on vacation for restaurants come from the hotel. ;)

I have done this many times. I purchase my local book and then I can go online to print coupons for Orlando(I think you have to register your book). Some of the coupons are unlimited, some you can only print one time. Here is the website:
