I don't think most DVC owners went to WDW as much prior to becoming DVC owners as they do now that they own. In fact IMO a major reason WDW came up with DVC was to increase the number of times people would return to WDW.
We still spend the same amount of time at WDW usually 4 to 5 weeks a year and only half of our time is staying in a DVC unit at SSR. We still miss our monorail resorts and will continue to spend half of our time there. I don't go to WDW to spend a lot of time in the parks, I just like to have a getaway and relax and have spa days. This works for me.I am hoping for a monorail DVC next.

Is it customary for Disney to invest in property or would this be a possible future DVC sight. Of course the rumor up here is a theme park but I'm sure that is not going to happen.![]()

no not really. IMO what has happened is that via a huge marketing department, WDW has gotten the masses to view a 10 min wait for a bus, and a 20 min bus ride, as something being "on site".
How far from the attraction can something be prior to no longer being viewed as "on site"?
If WDW were to obtain land another 3 miles from SSR and build a DVC there, would that also be "on site"?
What about 5 miles?
It never ends........
But maybe I mean adjacent?

Is it possible, or probable, that Disney would entertain this up close and personal type of resort physically attached to any of their parks? Seems to me that there is enough space around the perimeter of these parks to allow for it. Now, if something like this was done, I truly believe it would sell like wildfire.
bpmorley said:So that would mean that only Y&B, BW, Swan & Dolphin are the only "on-site" resorts? They are the only ones with their own entrance to EPCOT.
mickeysgal said:The Grand Californian is smack up against the theme park. Not within a short walking distance with it's own entrance. I think that having a hotel literally in the park would take DVC to a level that hasn't been done before.
bpmorley said:Does the Grand Californian have it's own entrance? I've never been to disneyland. Actually I'm pretty new to WDW. I'm not sure that I would want to stay at a resort in the park. I love the parks but sometimes I just want to stay at the resort and chill. I would think being in a park wouldn't give you too much quiet area. Everyday in WDW I need that little quiet time to recharge the batteries.
I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating; The next DVC resort will indeed be built at the CR with, what DVD hopes will be, a new trend-setting tacky-chic theme. It will combine two passe Disney icons, MK's Jungle Cruise attraction and the Contemporary Resort, into one incredible retro-luxury timeshare known as... the Contemporary Resort Adventure Properties.NMW said:I think the next DVC resort will be at the CR. There is plenty of space and those garden wings are so dated and ugly looking.
