Are there good touring strategies for World Showcase?

We're looking at spending two evenings touring World Showcase in late August. (A single morning will be dedicated to the rides.) Illuminations will end one night, and Soarin or Test Track without FPP for the other nighttime end. We have only one ADR, Nine Dragons for 7 pm. Both evenings, we plan on arriving around 5 pm. Any recommendations for effectively touring WS that would include my ADR, the fireworks, and Soarin/TT? I'm thinking direction? backtracking? start and finish locations??? TIA!

As long as you tour in a logical order, I don't think there's any specific starting point, direction, etc. that would matter.

A lot of the entertainment and characters are only available during the day and at specific times. Otherwise just start in the direction you want and go for it! :)

If you're touring WS that late in the day, many of the entertainment acts will be done by then. You should check the daily schedule to see if there are any performers doing shows at the time you will be there that you want to see and fashion your schedule around those. Most of what's left would be whatever is in the countries, like the movies in China, France and Canada, and shopping in the gift shops, and none of that is time sensitive.

Just be aware that WS gets significantly busier in the evening (especially weekend evenings). Is there any way you could switch one to earlier in the day and another in the evening. I also personally just like seeing it in both dat time and night time.

If you are playing to drink around the world that late I would say start in Canada and go the other way. Mexico is the best with the Tequila Cave (Cava de Tequila) and it is least busy at opening and closing.

edit to add the note that the Mexico Pavilion itself is empty later at night but around it is swamped with people getting ready for Illuminations.

We tend to start in Mexico (with lunch) around 11:00 or so and go about halfway around. Come back in the evening, start in Canada and do the other half in the evening. On our other Epcot day, we do the opposite; start in Canada during the day and start in Mexico in the evening.

I usually start at one end and work my way around. Doesn't matter to me which end I start at, but I NEED to have some kind of purpose or goal. One year we got all the Kidcot stamps. Another year we stopped at all the Christmas/Santa/Holiday skits in each country. We've done the Agent P game. We've also snacked around the WS, sharing CS meals or F&G snacks. My SIL bought candy from each country. If I don't have a goal, I seem to wander aimlessly because I'm NOT a shopper.

By august the Frozen ride will likely be open, and that's will have the biggest lines in the Showcase. So focus on getting ADRs for that, along with Soaring etc, and if you can't...when Showcase opens go straight to the Frozen ride. If that doesnt interest you, just go clockwise or counterclockwise

Thanks for all of your comments!

I hadn't thought of using an afternoon to tour WS as we would normally take our break then. Hmmm...Maybe we should head to WS a little earlier or stay later on our FW morning to see some of WS too. As for the Frozen ride, I'm also hoping to get FPP for that on the FW morning.

Love the comment, "if you're planning to drink around the world "that late"..." :rotfl:

I also agree with needing a goal (candy collection sounds like a winner!)...I'm a terribly shopper too, just because I hate it so much. (DH doesn't know how lucky he got!)

Get there at 11 am when it opens to get through things the quickest. Then as people head in to the showcase in the afternoon you can head out and back to Future World with lower crowds with the exception.

Maybe start with one end on one night, and with another end on another? We love touring WS and we would probably do 2 evenings as well. If you're stopping and looking at lots of things in the pavilions you may only make it halfway through on one night, otherwise maybe you'll make it the whole way through on both nights. There's lots to see, eat, and drink!

My home resort is the BWV and I tend to love walking around the WS from around 2-4 in the afternoon when my family takes an afternoon break. It is a great time to grab a drink and walk around and take in the entertainers. We usually go during the holidays, so the storytellers are usually out. If I remember correctly, most entertainers are done by 5 pm.

We have yet to see much in the WS. It never seems to work out for us. Our last day there in February, we decided to go through at 11 when it opened. Well, things must open slowly as there was not much going on. Most the carts were still closed, and no entertainment yet. Next time we'll aim for mid/late afternoon.

I agree with nilla. It's a semicircle. Now if you have some specific events in World Showcase that you want to see, you can follow this site for times:

We missed a lot of WS the last two times we were at Disney due to huge thunderstorms. Our luck! What entertainment would you most recommend?

Another one of my favorites, I love listening to the British Revolution with a half and half in hand. During the holidays, all of the storytellers are not to be missed!
