Are there generally so many closures in Feb?

We are planning what will probably be a once in a lifetime trip from Georgia to DL next year. I see that there are tons of things down right now and am wondering if this is usually the case. I'd be especially sad to miss World of Color. We are toying between the 3rd week in feb 2016 or first week in April 2016. Any thoughts?

I am sure you have realized that this year is the diamond anniversary for DL. So lots and lots of stuff is being spruced up for that. So there are more things closed than usual right now. However February (and January) typically are good times for refurbs because it's after the holiday rush and before the spring break rush. February will have refurbs next year... Maybe not woc because it's down for so long this year to prep for the 60th. Maybe it will be fantasmic instead. Who knows :confused3. April will have less closed because spring breaks will have already started, and it will be more crowded, possibly very very crowded depending on if you hit a peak spring break week.

Which would you rather? A few things closed. But quieter crowd wise. Or nearly everything open and lot lots more people?

If you are able to do it before all the different Spring Breaks start (from elementary school kids to college kids) I would recommend it. But do remember there are quite a few attractions closed in preparation for the 60th!

One other thing to consider - late Feb you still run the risk (though small) of rain. SoCal has been pretty dry over winter the past few years but it can happen. Plus you occasionally get chilly days/nights. By SoCal standards, anyway! :rotfl2: Sometimes there are daytime highs in the 50s dropping to low 40s. Though as with rain, it's rare.

For best chances in your window of staying dry and having warm days, I'd suggest looking at late March.

It sounds like you're looking to save some $ and avoid crowds, but have you considered early December? Disneyland decorated for the holidays is truly magical. It takes on an entirely different character. If you're doing a once-in-a-lifetime trip, I have to at least suggest looking into that! Not a lot of people travel the week after Thanksgiving so you might get cheaper airfare.

While water rides like Splash Mt and Grizzly typically go down the first few months of the year, this year's list of refurbs is nothing short of disgusting. Next year will be a lot better. There's no way you'll have two Disney mountains down at the same time because they've all been refurbs even recently. The castle won't have a brown paper bag over it. WOC should be going as usual because it's getting a refurb this year. Soarin' should be up for years to come after this spring's ridiculously long refurb to change out a few projectors and screens.

February should be fine next year. It will probably be a great year to have an AP because there should be a huge limit on what goes down for the 60th.

Other than the castle, last year's refurb list was just as bad. (And interestingly, I got to ride Splash AND Grizzly in late Feb last year.)

And its dangerous to speculate on what will be better, what will be undergoing refurb, etc. For example, Soarin' was down for a LONG time last year around this time. Now it is again. So just because something is down this year, doesn't mean it won't be next year.

Its almost just a crap shoot this time of year. Stuff will be down. But as mentioned, lines are WAY better.
