are there ever ADR cancellations?

I tried to get ADRs for dinner at leCellier and lunch at CRT a while back for our upcoming trip at the end of August. Neither were available-so I made ADRs for dinner at CRT and lunch at LeCellier...my ? is: should I call back closer to our trip date or even once we get to WDW and see if there are cancellations-does that ever happen?

YES!! When I was planning meals for our May trip, my family would give me NO input. Then, at the last minute, everyone had requests...and, of course, they were for difficult ADR's to get. However, after a call every few days for the 2 weeks before our trip, I was able to make/change ADR's for CP, CM, and CRT. I was never able to get Le Cellier or Chefs for dinner. However, I was trying to book a party of 5; and I've since learned that there are far more tables for 4 or more at most WDW restaurants. Thus, smaller parties are easier to seat.

Keep trying! We needed to change some of our ARs also and we are still two months out.At first attempt we were told that none of the options were available-- Mama Melrose, Sci-fi-, 50's, just to name a few. The CM told me that many people make multiple ARs until they make up their mind or just to keep their options open. Sure enough we kept calling ( luckily I found the 800 number!) and eventually we got one . I was also told that many of the restaurants do not open up all time slots right away so you may have better luck about one month away form your trip especially for a later time.

Oh yes. I called on the 90th day for al my ADRs, but sevearl of the places were only giving very early times for dinner. When later times came out (between 31 and 25 days out), I made ADRs for the later times and cancelled 4 times that I already had.

Yep, I cancelled one of my ADRs the other night and replaced it with another restaurant, also I have a CRT ADR for breakfast one morning but I would like to make it earlier so I can get to EP earlier but when I called and asked if they had anything ealier for that day they didnt, but I will keep trying up to the day before!!

Yes keep trying especially once you get there. We cancelled 3 of our 6 ADRs while at WDW because we ended up doing other things. We also were able to book other ADRs for the same nights, when we cancelled.

Keep trying. You may also want to watch these boards. Sometimes someone will post when they cancel their ADR.
