Are there different layouts for the 2br at OKW ? (ie lock=off's vs. non=lock-offs?)

I just saw mention of a lockoff room earlier on the boards and am wondering, since we'll be in a 2 br this Sep, do we specifically have to request a lockoff? Or do some 2br's come without a lockoff? Is there a difference in layout? (i.e., 2 beds in 2nd br as opposed to 1b and 1 sofa?) Hopefully you all here can help. Thank you .

The lock offs have a separate entrance and a small kitchenette area with a micro, sm fridge etc. There is also a small balcony area with the lock offs.

Is one necessarily better than the other? (i.e. when your with family does it matter?) What does everyone think is better? (i.e., better set up??) THANKS.

We'd need the 2 beds in that 2nd bedroom for sure (don't know if that makes a difference). Thanks.

The only time it might matter is with small children. Some people are uncomfortable having them alone in a bedroom with a door to the outside and the micro/frig/coffeemaker right in the room with them. On the other hand, the lock-off is kind of nice for couples, teenagers, because of the extra door allowing them to come in and out with disturbing anyone who might be sleeping the living room area.

All studios and 2nd BR's at OKW have 2 queen sized beds. There are no sleep sofas in these rooms. (They are only in the living room of 1, 2 and 3BR villas.)

In the dedicated 2BR's there is no kitchenette in the 2nd BR, no patio/balcony and no outside entrance. Some families prefer the dedicated villas- especially those with children where "leaving" the room would be a temptation. Otherwise, there is no difference in the layout of the villa, just a little more space where the kitchenette would have been in the 2nd BR.

With the lock-off 2BR, guests will have their own entrance and mini-kitchen.

If you want a lock-off, be sure to request it. If you want a dedicated 2BR, be sure to request it.

Enjoy!

On my first trip to OKW before I was a member, I shared a 2 bedroom with 3 friends. 2 took the master and the 2nd bedroom was myself and another friend. We had a dedicated 2 bedroom. It worked out good because there is an extra bathroom sink and counter where the kitchenette would be plus there is another closet where the outside door would be in a lockoff studio. So we each had our own sink & own closet. The extra closet is a big walk-in.

So let me get this straight -- there IS a door to the 2nd bedroom from the inside right? just not a lock off? And no outside entrance? Sounds liek that's for us!!

In a lockoff, there is a double connecting door between the second bedroom and the kitchen/living room, similiar to what you would see in connecting rooms in any hotel. Both doors would be open when you arrive. In the second bedroom, there's a door direct to the outside. If the people in the second bedroom wanted a total separate room, they could close the connecting doors and have their own studio (a two bedroom is less points than a 1 bedroom + studio). In a dedicated 2 br, there is just a regular door between the second bedroom & the kitchen/living room and no outside door in the second bedroom.

We had a 2 bdr in Dec of 2000, room 6430 to be exact, which was not a lock off. As the previous posters stated it does not have an entrance to the outside or the kitchenette. It does have a door, just like a regular bedroom from the living room/hall area. It does contain the extra bathroom, as well. We just requested a 2 bdr and that is what we got, as it didn't matter if it was a lock off or not. This was our first trip as members, and I have absolutely nothing but great things to say about the whole trip. The room was perfect, and the view was even better. We are actually BWV owners but couldn't get in that year so we took OKW. It really spoiled us. We stayed at the BWV 2 months ago and had a great time, also, but OKW was pretty special. As I stated in my thread tonight, my DH and I got a yearning today for a small vacation so we got a 1 bdr at OKW for the first of March and can't wait.
