Are there any hidden perks for Concierge Suites?

So do you simply mention this to the concierge staff and they have your requested dessert in the lounge at a certain time?

No, we just told our servers in the MDR that we were leaving early and went up to the lounge. The desserts were not as fancy, but nice little pastries, chocolate mousse or the like (you may be able to see some in the photo) and tea, coffee, beer etc. from the bartender. None of us were particularly hungry so something a little lighter was just fine. The MDRs tend to be noisy so best part was to be able to sit quietly like this and talk about the day.

Nice family photo!
:)

I have a really dumb question (new to DCL and only been on a couple other cruises). Is there a link somewhere that I can't find that lists the UNhidden perks of Concierge? I don't even really know what that means but you all have me interested!

Just Google Disney Cruise Line concierge perks

We'd just ask for our dessert to go and take it to the lounge or sometimes our room if in a Cat T.

I've eaten my dessert to go in a Cat 4E, so it doesn't matter where you are. If you can't finish your dessert they'll cover it and send it with you.

I'm a chocoholic so often I prefer the desserts provided in the concierge lounge to those on the MDR menu. Add in a hot chocolate from the fancy machine and life is good :)

In general, the concierge team are souped up customer service folks. Honestly I'm not trying to be vague, but the assistance my family needs very well will not be what you need.

Here's a specific example. On our first trip, my dad took his phone to castaway cay. All day. Even in the ocean. :crazy2: The hosts got rice to try to dry it out and also gave him an additional free internet package. I would hope you won't need those services, but they went out of their way.

I think looking at it as a "list of hidden perks" is the wrong way to go about it. The regular service levels on DCL are high, perhaps what you'd expect in a 3.5 or 4 star hotel. There's more or less a set list of services provided, and they generally provide them well. What Concierge level does is bump it up to what you'd find in a 5-star hotel (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, etc.): they try to accommodate every need and request to the greatest extent possible, including unusual ones.

Here's an example: at a 5-star hotel, I'd expect them to make minor repairs to my luggage that may have been damaged during travel. That's not a published benefit, but it is something I'd expect them to do, and would not expect of a 4-star or lower hotel. However, that doesn't mean that "luggage repair" is on the list of "hidden benefits" such that I should plan to bring all of my broken luggage the next time so I can take advantage of the free luggage repair. It's the same with DCL Concierge: there's lots that they can do for you as the need arises, but you shouldn't look at it as something that you get a list of just so you can be sure to take advantage of all of the benefits.

That was not my experience. A very simple request to accommodate two elderly ladies was totally ignored. An small overcharge was explained but not corrected. Service levels must vary over a wide range.

Thank you!

Just be aware that the list is for a Cat T and above. Not the Cat V, which has reduced benefits.
The only missing benefit for Cat V is in-room dining. You cannot get hot breakfast or dinner from the MDR. Everything else is the same including being able to order continental breakfast for room service on the day you disembark.

The iPod docks have been going away too. Not sure if Concierge has dropped theirs yet, but many of the other rooms don't have then anymore.

I have a question for all you concierge veterans, my husband and I were thinking about going concierge on our next 2018 cruise. The plan was to get my kids their own "regular" room (by kids they are 21 and 17) If we did this are they still able to come visit us in our room? Is concierge separate from the rest of the ship?

They can visit you in your room. They cannot visit you in the Concierge Lounge, or sun deck (if there is one).

Does the Wonder have the same perks (lounge/ sundeck) as the new ships?

You can also expect that kids activities will be reserved for your family if they require tickets. For example, meeting the Frozen princesses that require tickets. When we met our concierge he had three tickets for us. If you don't want them they will release them to someone else.

Getting to go onboard before group 1 is always nice! Also, not waiting in line debating while tendering, just right up to the front :).
Do you think this is an added perk that should be taken advantage of?? It's my families first DCL trip and we went with concierge, and this will probably be the only time we do that. Half of our party will not be in until 12:30 cruise day, and we all have to board together, but it's not too late to make plans to come in the day before if we can decide if a couple hours extra is worth the added expense (however I would feel better having everyone there the night before).
