Are there any Christian ROCK fans out there?

Anybody a Rob Rock fan? I used to know Rob when he was in Vice in the early 1980's in Massachussetts. I only recently found out that he's got a solo career in as a Christian Metal singer and he actually lives pretty close to me these days.

That it is. It was played at my SIL's wake last year. So it's very special to me. But I loved the song before that.

I'm so sorry for your loss cybrkitn. It is an incredibly powerful song in its own right, but in that situation, oh my...I can see why it is special to you.

Haven't heard of him yet Ducklite. Hope the solo career goes well!

I didn't know Flyleaf was a christian rock band. now I have yet another reason to turn off Lacey's screamy whines.

ducklite, are you shooting the 98 rockfest?

No, I passed on it this year. I'm shooting Earth Day Birthday the day before, and after shooting Zephyrhills and EDBD back-to-back last year I've decided it was just too much. I didn't really enjoy myself at EDBD last year which has always been great times for me because I was exhausted. Plus I think I'm going to be shooting the EDBD set up the day before, so I need to take Friday off work, and I don't want to take Monday as well.

Thanks for this thread. :thumbsup2 I never heard of a lot of these bands, but I will give them a listen. I was under the assumption that all Christian rock was that annoying preachy stuff where audience members just stand they're with eyes closed , swaying slowly back and forth with their arms in the air. lol

I listen to hard rock/metal, but I will definately check these bands out. Though my iTunes list will look weird with these bands next to my MM albums. ;)

I'm surprised at the classification of Christian rock I'm seeing here on this thread. I'm not a expert by any means though so I'm sure it's me, not anyone else. I just didn't realize that people would consider bands like AudioA to be rock.

I know my dd is a huge fan of some of the bands listed here. She loves christian bands and goes to as many concerts as she can afford, lol. She'll be taking our youth group of Ichthus this year (she goes every year, I know both skillet and pillar will be there).

I tend to like the stuff that you'd hate Anne, choir music, LOL. I love Brooklyn Mass choir and the like.

Evanescence, Creed/Scott Stapp/Alter Bridge, Breaking Point, Shinedown, and Chevelle are all bands who are deeply spiritual (and in some cases have Christian members) but are not Christian rock bands.

Anne

Exactly. Creed's lead singer is Christian, hence their lyrics were very Christian sounding. But the rest of the band isn't.

Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" sounded very Christian to me, so I had Googled them to find out where they stood. They had said that they are not Christian band at all. I can especially connect with the lyrics of that song b/c of something that happened to me in the past.

I'm not much of a fan of Flyleaf myslef, the band is very talented and I think some of their music is very good, but the singer sounds too "whiney" for me

I agree with that 100%. And I also never realized they were a Christian band, while under the impression that Creed and Chevelle DID consider themselves to be Christian bands.

Oh, and I'm really surprised to see Shinedown and Breaking Benjamin put into the same genre. They sound nothing alike to me.
