My husband insists that the ostrich eggs on the Safari ride are not real. He thinks there is no way these eggs would sit there that long. Please help me convince him he is wrong. Or is he?

Thanks.

I've been in these parts for a long time and I've never seen that question before. :thumbsup2 I have no idea if they're real or not. But someone here will. :yay:

I don't know for sure, but I've always believed they are fake. I don't think a mother ostrich would leave her eggs unattended and they are always in the same spot.

I think I've read previously on this board that they're real, but have been hollowed out/cleaned/preserved in some fashion. Certainly not "fresh!"

Your DH doesnt seem to think that anything at Disney is real.

Tell DH that all of Disney World is fake. It is actually one of those 3D sidewalk paintings. That should clear things up for him :thumbsup2

So are you a couple sharing a DIS id? I suggest reading one of the trip planning books about WDW.

Hmm, I must have been on that Safari ride every trip for the past 5 years or so and I NEVER thought of that! It never even occured to me that they would be "fake" but obviously if they are in the same spot unattended and SO close to the path it makes absolute sense.

I think it's safe to say there probably won't be anything hatching out of them in our lifetime.

Tell him to stop over thinking everything and enjoy Disney as the wonderful MAGICAL place that it is. (JMHO)

That's good advice! :thumbsup2

When someone asks me, "How do they....?" about something at Disney, I just say, "Magic." Why ruin it?

Good grief! Is your husband real?

Your husband sure insists on a lot of things today doesn't he?

went on Safari with a CM friend who was a construction manager at AK when it was being built.

he ruined a lot of magic for me, but i was digging the insider details.

no, the eggs are not real. (in the terms of "were they laid there by a momma and they have developing babies inside.)

I asked this question during the Backstage Safari tour and the guide said that the eggs are not real.
