I was just listening on satelite radio and they included Orlando in the areas of where the fires were, but I cant find anything listed on CNN that includes the Orlando area.

Any info anyone? I'm headed into town this coming saturday, should I change my plans perhaps?

The fires are not affecting WDW or the main routes to get there. You'll be fine.

Thank you very much Anne. I wasnt worried until today when they said Orlando, then of course I started to panic.

Thank you again... :thumbsup2

On the morning news today they said that Orlando was fine but not to take I-95 in, use alternate routes instead (I believe they mentioned a hwy. 75 but I'm not sure). I guess that the area around Daytona Beach is affected. Hopefully it will all be fine by this weekend---that's when we are driving in as well!

We're flying into Tampa cause the airline tix were much, much cheaper. I dont know which road we'll have to take but we were hoping to drive up to Daytona Beach one day and also Cape Canaveral.

Dis-happy, be careful on your drive down. If I see you at the park, I'll wave...lol

I made that drive from NC to FL many years ago and I dont envy anyone else who is traveling that road. Of course I was a teen or pre teen and everything seems to take longer when you're a young know it all teen... :lmao:

:goodvibes Hopefully they get these under control soon, and they won't be a concern to anyone.

You really cannot say if it will be effecting anyone or not.. depends on when they come & how they are coming..
In the past 2 weeks, parts of 95 in Brevard & Volusia County's were shut. That would be the main north & south route on the east coast. Some of the BeeLine, now known as the Beachline have been shut on & off. That would be a route to the east coast near Cape Canaveral from Orlando or vis-a-versa. Parts of 75 in Hillsbourough were closed just yesterday & this morning, that would be the main north & south route on the west coast. Parts of 75 have been shut on & off down by my counties.. Lee & Collier but not for very long.
It just depends on where the fire's are on the day someone is coming. I know there was a big fire in Orlando near SeaWorld....
Here is a link to the Fl Highway traffic patrol... you can look up the different areas & see what is closed & opened... there are also other links you can get on from this link as well..

I would suggest anyone driving from any direction check with this. It covers the entire state.. if you have a laptop & taking it with you, you can check as you go along...

This is not the case! The fires are SOUTH of Daytona on I-95, if you are coming from the north you'll be on I-4 long before where the fires are. And taking I-75 makes no sense, that's on the totally opposite side of the state.

If you are coming down I-95 from points north, you will get off onto I-4 10 miles or more north of where the fires are causing on and off closings of I-95.

If you are coming from the South (Vero/Miami), you can take the Turnpike and completely avoid any fires.

If you are coming from the North West down I-75, the fire that was burning out there yesterday in Hillsborough County was south of where you would get onto the FL Turnpike by at least 15+ miles, so no impact.

If you are coming from the South West, you will get onto I-4 near Tampa, a good 15 miles south of where the I-75 fires were.

The fire by Sea World is out. The fire at Universal was not a brush fire, but rather a fire on their fireworks trucks.

If you are coming from Hillsborough, Brevard, or Volusia counties, I'm assuming you are local or visitng someone local, and thus either know or can get directions to avoid any potentially troublesome areas.

THERE ARE NO AREAS THAT "NON-LOCALS" WILL NEED TO DRIVE THROUGH TO GET TO WDW THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THE BRUSH FIRES.

Anne what you say is true for today, but what about tomorrow?.. anyone driving to our state should go to the web site link I posted to get the most updated info. I remember a few years ago my mom & sister's entire county was evcuated.. Flagler.. and 95 north of I-4 was shut. Also if someone is coming from Hillsborough, Brevard, or Volusia counties, they could also be tourist that have stayed there before driving to Disney. I know many stay down my way before heading up to Disney or vis-a-versa. They may want to check.

If anyone is driving down, do not rely on this board for your up to date info. We can only give you what is happening as of now..and what we have heard about.
As I suggested, if you have a lap top & taking it with you, log onto that site as you approach different areas of our state. If not, just keep your radio tuned to a news station for up to date info in the area you are going thru at that time.
