I don't think anyone expects to be guaranteed a specific room type at 11 months every time they want it.
What I do expect is to have the same chance of scoring the room I want as every other owner. A portion of the ownership pool walking destroys that equal footing. And "everyone walk" is obviously not an answer.
There are only 2 ways every owner is on equal footing at 11 months. Everyone walking, or no one walking.
But, you do have the same chance as every other owner to book a room that is there when you log in.
The difference is that some want to ensure that the qualifier that only those who actually want to show up thst day are entitled to book the rooms.
And, that is my concern…I don’t want to give
DVC more power to set “qualifiers” in what gives an owner the right to book…because while it might change the walking practice, it might change things that have nothing to do with it.
I mean…there are owners who book an extra night before they arrive because they don’t want to have to wait until 4 pm? Could that be stopped?
What about the owner who books a full week at 11 months because they don’t know which night they will check in? And adjust it months later when their dates are confirmed? Could that be stopped?
How about the teacher who can’t book at 8 am on their check in day so books on Sunday so they have their room? Could that me stopped?
I know…these are not walking but the rooms are being taken for a night that the owner knows they don’t plan to use.
That is why I believe DVC is going to be very cautious to change rules because of situations like this.
As I said earlier, I am indifferent to walking because I do not feel that it is against the written rules. I have made the choice not to do it because it’s more work than just booking PV if I have to and waitlist/stalk to get the “resort view”
