Two completely separate thoughts and I think that was made pretty clear.so commercial spec renting is causing people to go hungry or be able to feed or clother their family?

Don't waste your time chatting with the correctly worded question. Tried that twice recently and then was told to send an email for an official response, which is what I am waiting on a response from.I don't understand why the questions are all hedged to look like they may not be walking.
To really guage DVC's sentiment, ask:
I want a reservation for next December but I am afraid I won't be able to get it at 11 months. Can I reserve the room I want starting in July and then walk it week by week until I get to December?
Only if all owners have the same information. Not everyone knows about walking. If DVC wants walking, that's okay by me, they just need to publicly acknowledge it and make sure all owners know about it and know that it is allowed. The grey-area stuff is the problem. So?
You had the same opportunity to walk as well. If you decide not to it’s your choice.
All owners have the same equal opportunities.
Game on! No problem rolling into infinity.
8am is a pretty good window for me so hopefully it won’t be too long until I am able to secure a reservation at 11 months in a whichever challenging category I think most likely for us. If I end up switching to another room, no harm. Until then keep rolling the reservation through 2026 until we make a final decision. I can do our VGF week by week. Our BWV has a harder time year round doing week by week. Best bet is to match BW to my VGF schedule then add a second separate flip each week.
And if we happen to butt heads every now, and then, we all know that “rubbing is racing“Just another lap on the Nascar track of DVC walking discussions. Green flag racing!
The main flaw in this argument is when has dvc ever had any info on doing anything with bookings? I had to learn how to book and modify reservations on my own.Only if all owners have the same information. Not everyone knows about walking. Personally, I'd rather they stop the practice, but if they don't, they need to disclose walking as a valid and endorsed practice.

Not sure DVC said they WANT walking - just that it was an unforeseen consequence of booking forward…Only if all owners have the same information. Not everyone knows about walking. Im fine with that too.Once again, I’m totally fine with walking if you wanna make that the defined way of making reservations. Just make sure every owner knows about it. If they decide not to do it at that point, then they can live with that. The way it works right now is not on the up and up, and I think the walkers know that.
The problem that I have is that a new owner reading the DVC website on how to make reservations is not going to naturally interpret that as walking. Therefore, they will be at a disadvantage. If you want walking to be the norm, let everyone know about it. Put it on the DVC websiteThe main flaw in this argument is when has dvc ever had any info on doing anything with bookings? No, as you can not make an online reservation that crosses use years.Plus it wouldn't be wise to try to walk over a use year, as you'd lose points because you would be beyond your banking window when cancelling the arrival date and extending the check-out date. Can you "walk" over 2 use years? I thought that might be a the limitation (?)
Well, I’m not the younger generation, so no.Im fine with that too.
When MS advice members to walk they do inform members how to do it.
Just as with multipass or singlerider pass it’s the responsibility of the guests here the members to learn how the system works. Disney or DVC shouldn’t hold your hand, but if you call and ask they should of course help you.
It’s the same with everything else in life, some you can learn by reading, but overall it’s YOUR responsibility to learn the ins and outs - don’t expect get everything handed to you on a silver platter.
It comes to mind that this overall argument about walking smells like the younger generation that feels so entitled to everything. When life or DVC bookings is not easy they start to whine - that generation just has to get over it, I’ll be happy to provide a straw so they can suck it up.
But walking isn't the norm to book a reservation. They just tell you the basics if anything. The problem that I have is that a new owner reading the DVC website on how to make reservations is not going to naturally interpret that as walking. Technically you really can walk to infinity. I’m pretty sure at least. You’d need to make sure you are somehow using the other points before they expire… but that seems possible as long as you took 1 year or less of points and just kept rolling. Since you can switch out points in a reservation as long as the other ones are valid - that opens the possibility to ‘infinity roll’.
If I book a week 11m out at VGF, I could keep rolling that reservation over Use Years. You’d have to make sure the right amount of points are active in the next year to absorb the reservation.
Member Services can help you to take active points from the current and bank them so they are there for the roll across the UY. You’d need to call because the automated system can’t do that; member services can do that modification to an existing reservation.
It gets a bit complicated because you can only bank points once. Walking over UY would still be in the banking window. You’d need to be careful though. As you’re rolling along this one reservation each year, you’d also need to plan real trips to use points before they expire.
Not really. Let's say you have a February UY, in February to book next January and walk all the way until the end of the UY. Then you call to cross UY, you start using points of the next UY while freeing up points of the initial UY. You then continue the walk with the new UY. Of course at this point you have all the points from the original UY, but they're not on holding, because you canceled them 10 months in advance. You can use them to book something at 9 months. But of course nothing is available because everyone is walking everythingNo, as you can not make an online reservation that crosses use years.Plus it wouldn't be wise to try to walk over a use year, as you'd lose points because you would be beyond your banking window when cancelling the arrival date and extending the check-out date.
