If I remember correctly, two of the last three times I stayed at ASMu, in 3/02, we paid about 54.88. The third time was during Pres week in Feb so we pd rack rate. I know one of "the great room rate" times was with the HERO offer and the other was an AP rate. From what I've been seeing on these boards, it appears that the best I'm going to get in Oct with an AP or code is about 74/night before taxes. We are going during regular season. Does that seem about right? Is it likely they'll even offer discounted rooms at that time (AP or other). DH is NYPD. Is there a discount anywhere for him (other than 129/night at Swan or Dolphin).

Have a magical day!:jester:

I don't think you are going to see $54.88 unless the tourism market gets MUCH worse than it is. Disney has to pay the people that work there, provide the services etc. So unless you are a FL resident, I don't think you will see those rates again.

This year we haven't seen the really good discounts like we did last year. Even in value season, where last year you were seeing 40%-45% off rack rate, this year the average seems to be about 30%. But it's also been said that Disney didn't raise rack rates much if at all over last year, so 30% is still a pretty good deal. We could be having no discounts.

If you aren't travelling until October, you probably will need to wait and see what the codes are like. I think it was June/July when those codes came out last year. Then you can see what you are truly dealing with.

I think in regular season, you MAY see a little less than $74 a night, but certainly not $54.88

Just my humble opinion on the situation.

I agree with zulaya. We will have to wait and see.

And you have to remember, frann, that the price of everything keeps going up. My philosophy is this: Plan for the worst (gasp! rack rates!) and hope for the best (good AP rates!).

The best reason in the world that I bought my DVC points in 1997. I'm locked in.

for Last November, and I am sure I will get it again!;) I am staying in 7 days, and am paying 88.00 with Tax.;)

We got $55 + tax, a night at ASMu, this past November (first week), but the codes didn't come out until late July...around the 22nd, I think. This code was from the mousesavers.com web site...anyone could use it.

I just booked for Oct and got $69.00 with AAA rate, I still hoping for a better code. But at least it's booked. ASMO. Won't beat the last two year's $49.00 rate.

Yesterday's travel section in the Washington Post had discounted rates through AAA. They were $74 Value, $94 moderate, and $139 deluxe. It says to call your Disney Travel Planner at 407-939-7801 and ask for code AEA. This rate is good for stays 4/28 through 7/3 and have to be booked by 4/26.

Not quite as low as what you're looking for, but I think they're not giving the half off to anyone but CM's anymore.

I got the a 50.00 something rate in January this year. I think with tax it was around 62.00. However, the AP rate was 49.00 for the same time. So, I think we will see this rate again for sept, and nov. I'm not sure for Oct. though.
