We are excited to be going home 1st trip soon and my mind is racing with questions. So in retrospect to a question posted by MelsMice, are the beds at DVC resorts comfortable or are they the sort of typical hard like plywood type mattresess. Usually after commando touring the parks we can fall asleep on just about anything. Only place we have stayed on resort so far is All -Stars so just trying to do some comparison.

Hope this post isnt too"far" out there, if so just bypass, otherwise thanks ahead for any comments!!

During our last stay at BWV in April my DW commented that we should try to find out the manufacturer utilized for our bed; it was extremely comfortable. Firm but with a great deal of padding. We haven't been as impressed with the beds at OKW.........

We've found the king beds to be quite comfortable during our stays at VWL and BWV. And the kids had no complaints about the pull out sofa either!

I think the beds used by DVC (we've only tired BWV and VWL so far) are far superior to motel beds. I usually have a problem sleeping on vacation, but for me DVC is truly home away from home and I have no problems getting sleep.

The king size beds in the one bedroom units are wonderful!

While I have always found the beds at the DVC resorts to be quite comfy, I had to giggle when we stayed in the GV at OKW last May with my whole family --

--- my dad came downstairs and said "I want to take my bed home with me, that's the best nights sleep I've had!"

It really made me laugh because my dad is a pretty high standard guy when it comes to things like this. And he was in one of the upstairs bedrooms not the master bedroom.

So for us, it has been our experiences that the mattresses are pretty comfy. Have a great trip!!

To take this question one step further, how are the sleeper sofas? Our guide told us they were of high quality, however, he was trying to sell us on DVC. Any comments on them?

Typical motel stuff in my opinion. Westin hotels have nice beds.

I agree with sgtpet that Westin hotels have fantastic beds (the "heavenly bed"). I found the beds at OKW to be better than the usual hotel bed and very comfortable (nice and firm and quite cushiony). The beds at the All Star resorts were OK but not as comfortable.

Thanks Doctor P. I will digress further; I feel that DVC should not be categorized as "Deluxe". It maybe Deluxe in price but they are not extravagant in comfort just in size. The theme of the disney resorts is great but the accommodations are far less than some of the major "deluxe" price hotels.

DW wife is a tuff judge on the mattress and the king bed at OKW & BWV have been excellent.
Just got back from the El Conquistador in San Juan a 4 star hotel and Disney was MUCH better.

Pull out beds are average...... good for kids, not Adults.

I've found the regular beds to be fine....just as good as the ones at the GF. The pull-outs are also okay -- better than a typical home model. I do think the pullout at OKW was slightly more comfortable than the ones at BWV. They are also all queen size vs. some that are queen and some that are full-size in the other WDW DVC resorts.

I have always found the beds at all the WDW resorts to be very comfortable, but my best and worst beds were both at OKW. The most comfortable bed I ever had at WDW was the queen at OKW and the most uncomfortable bed was the sleeper sofa at OKW. I think we just got a sleeper sofa that needed to be replaced though, it was horrible. I had to take the sofa cushions and put them under the mattress the bar was sticking in my back so badly.

While I would rate the BEDS as A++, the sleeper sofas are only average. OK for kids, but I don't think that you'd want to spend more than a few days on them.........

I am fast approaching 40, with the lower-back issues to show for it. I thought the DVC beds were great. I think after a full Disney day I would fall asleep on any bed, but in the morning my back felt OK. I always know when I have had a night on a cheesy, squishy hotel mattress.

I slept a few nights on the BCV sofa bed and survived. It was OK. It could be bigger. I seem to recall that they are replacing them with queen-size ones. That'll be nice. I shared with my daughter so she and her baby brother didn't kill each other; we could have used more room, but for a sofa bed I think it was pretty comfy.

Never had a problem at OKW,VB or HH sleeping on the beds.

We've slept on a waterbed for the last 20 years so any mattress we sleep on is a drastic change for us. My DW found VB bed very hard & requested "egg crates" from housekeeping-worked great. She also thought BCV was a little hard but didn't whine too much. To me a bed-is-a-bed. I can snore on anything.

I know this is slightly off-point, but when we stayed at GC (on pts.), I thought that the mattress was the absolute best. I've always enjoyed the mattresses at OKW, but I thought that this was, in part, attributable to having a king size bed at OKW, when we have a queen mattress at home.
