Are Santa's presents wrapped or unwrapped under the tree?

Everything is wrapped in our house. Even the toothbrush in your stocking. I always thought it made "christmas morning"
last a little longer. Growing up was the opposite for me. Santa didn't wrap.

Yes, Santa always wraps everything, even the stocking stuff!! He also has his own paper with his picture on it. He also only brings "toys". Mom and dad give the clothes or shoes or books and stuff. Admit this has gotten a lot tougher as DS got older but we STILL pretty much do this even thought the Santa talk was years ago!!!!!! DS is 14.

We do that too! I buy separate wrapping paper and wrap everything from santa with it. Clothes and "boring" stuff are from mom and dad and are wrapped in different paper.

I always put out 1 gift for each of my kids a few weeks before christmas, and the rest from me and dh, and Santa we put out christmas eve night when the kids are sleeping! It's so exciting to wake up to ALL of those presents.


I couldn't imagine putting them all out early, that 1 gift for each that we put out always looks all mangled and ripped by the time they open it from picking it up and shaking it 5 times a day. They are pretty much tortured by that one gift with their name on it, but as soon as we put up the tree every year , they want to know when the gift will be there.

We have a "Santa" tree (red and white lights...nothing but Santa ornaments) in our study and Santa always leaves an unwrapped present there to find on Christmas morning. He also leaves a wrapped gift or two under the tree in our family room. Stocking gifts are never wrapped.

Oh how I dread the day my DD stops believing!

My children are older now, but Santa never wrapped gifts. Presents from Mom and Dad where put under the tree as soon as they were wrapped. Once they were older of course everything was just wrapped and they would sit there and guess what half of their presents were, which really annoyed me. This year we have a new puppy running around so I am not putting the presents out until the last minute, and they won't be able to see how many boxes or the shapes of the boxes. At least I feel like it will be a little more of a surprise.

Growing up, wrapped gifts were from mom, dad, grands, ect. Santa left everything under the tree unwrapped. Now we do the same thing for our kids. Dh did it differently growing up but he let me choose, and since I would be the one doing the wrapping anyway.....

Also, the wrapped gifts come out as soon as the tree is up, and get added to over the days leading up until Christmas. We open all of that on Christmas Eve, then we clean up around the tree so Santa has room to leave his stuff!

Both dh and I had santa wrapped presents growing up. It actually wasn't until I was an adult I realized people had unwrapped presents.

All the presents are still wrapped at our house. There are santa presents though and those are in one type of wrapping paper w/ no name tags (still even though ds is almost 14).

As for putting gifts out- we put a handful under the tree for looks. However, to keep ds in suspense I only put out ones to like my parents, my sister, people like that. Ds's gifts don't get put out until he's asleep Christmas Eve, and I don't let my neice and nephew see their pile until I bring it to their house to be opened.

Santa presents are always wrapped. Each kiddos gifts are in a different kind of paper.

Stocking gifts are NOT wrapped.

Wrapping for seven as it is takes me TONS of paper and hours and hours. So, we dont wrap the stocking stuff.

Santa gifts arent put out until Christmas Eve.

All the other stuff goes under the tree when it goes up around Thanksgiving.

I must confess, I didnt know that some people didnt wrap Santa stuff. Learn something new on the DIS everyday

My first Christmas with my DSDs happened when they were 2 and 3yo. Almost all their toys were at their mother's house, so we went a bit overboard to stock the toy box from Santa. DH had always had Santa's toys wrapped under the tree when he was little, so being newly in love, of course I went along with it. We wrapped for hours!! On Christmas morning, the girls were thrilled with all the pretty presents and immediately began unwrapping things. After about 30 minutes of tearing paper and opening boxes, the little one asked if they 'could rest and play' with the new toys before they 'had to' open any more. That was the one and only Christmas Santa brought wrapped Christmas presents to our house!

In the last couple of years, Santa has even taken to getting the toys out of the boxes with those awful attachment things. It sure lets us enjoy watching the little ones play when we don't have to keep getting things out for them.

Santa wraps every bit of everything (even chap stick in the stocking). He uses special paper - this year, 7 yr old gets Princess paper (the one with Ariel on it), 4 yr old gets Care Bear paper. The only thing not wrapped in the past has been a bike and a tricycle.

And, almost everything is from Santa. DH and I only give a couple of special things. This year is the trip to Disney! Otherwise, it is usually a special book or a special request.

Nothing goes under the tree until after the girls go to bed on Christmas Eve night. Even things that are from relatives out of town go into the garage or closet until the big day. I started this when they were toddlers and would try to open everything as soon as it was under the tree before Christmas. Now, I just find it fun! We have lots and lots of Christmas stuffed animals. Those are under the tree until Christmas Day. The girls love playing with them and rearranging them. Besides, I was really bad about sneaking into my packages when I was younger (11-12) so I won't let them do that LOL.

Our Santa does not wrap he always leaves the gifts by the fireplace-he usually brings big gifts-so his helpers have a hard time wrapping them-and one (DH) helper is always to full of cookies to be much help.

How many of you wait until the night before Christmas to put presents under the tree? Last year was the first time that I waited until the night before and I really enjoyed the surprise it created when the kids woke the next morning. However, I have always loved the effect created by having presents under the tree (at least for a period of time).

I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do about this year. I've even thought about wrapping a couple of empty boxes and letting my children open them and creating a story such as "Santa is magical and the night before Christmas he fills all of the empty boxes that we put under the tree". But I'm really unsure what I'm going to do because my DS3 believes and my DS8 has pretty much lost faith.

We do gifts the same way I grew up. The only presents under the tree prior to Christmas Eve are the ones that are sent to us or are going to somebody that doesn't live in our house. Before bed on Christmas Eve, all presents are removed from under the tree to make room for Santa. It was always magical to me to get up Christmas morning and see the room full of presents. (DHs family puts a lot of gifts under the tree all month long since Santa only brings a couple things. After seeing a few years of this, I still think my way works better, but to each their own.)

Since Santa brings ALL but one or two from us he wraps. In our house Santa always got top honors in being the biggest gift giver. If I didn't wrap those then DD wouldn't have anything to unwrap! LOL!

I never put any gifts under the tree til DD goes to sleep Christmas Eve. It would be pretty hard explaining that since Santa brings the stuff. Also we would have no room to walk as the presents cover the entire floor! LOL!

Santa wraps. Think about all the pictures and movies you've seen with Santa and his bag of gifts; how many of showed the bag full of wrapped gifts? I can't think of any in which the gifts aren't wrapped.

Of course, for a counter argument, it's hard to justify from an environmental perspective. You do all that wrapping so that the wrapping paper can be torn off after being displayed for all of an hour. Seems like quite a waste, espcially from a guy that lives someplace where no trees grow.
How old were your kids before they started to believe that line about Santa not existing? We have a 7 year old that still seems happy to believe in the old guy. He has always been distrustful of the tooth fairy thing though.

Actually, I've been thinking a lot about this problem this year. . . Does anyone know where you can at least buy paper made out of recycled paper? Any other ideas? I've held off buying paper as I think about this. It really does feel so wasteful . . .

I've been debating this, too! In the past, I've had the presents under the tree because I also like the way it looks. I think this year we'll wrap other people's gifts to keep under the tree (we're seeing family after Christmas), and maybe DH and I will wrap our and put them under the tree -- as well as presents between us as a family. . . But presents from Santa will come out Christmas eve. So, I'd say that's abuot 1/2 before Christmas, and 1/2 on Christmas morning. . .

For those of you who DON'T wrap from Santa, do you keep things packaged? Or, do youtake the doll, for example, out of the box and everything else?

Gifts from Santa at our house are not wrapped....They are hidden until after the kids go to bed and then we sit down and start putting things together. There have been many long nights trying to assemble that race car track or the hobby horse...all the while trying to stay quiet so as to not wake anyone up. But all of it is worth it to us when we see the kids come down the stairs on Christmas morning...
