Are Santa's presents wrapped or unwrapped under the tree?

Santa doesn't wrap the toys that he leaves under the tree just like in my house when I was growing up. We also open our family presents on X-Mas eve and only have santa presents on X-Mas morning which was a tradition from my Dad's family. My MIL is scandalized that we don't follow her family tradition of wrapping everything and opening it all on X-Mas day.

Everything gets wrapped, including Santa's stuff. Sometimes we exchange one gift from each other on Christmas Eve, and then open Santa's gifts on Christmas morning.

I guess technically at our house, Santa doesn't wrap. The Elves build, buy, and wrap. Santa oversees the process and does the delivery.

BTW, for those wanting to make sure you kids understand the true meaning of Christmas, I would recommend against having them wait until after church service or mass on Christmas morning before opening their presents. We did this several years while I was younger and I can tell you that as a kid, my thoughts were not on my faith during those masses and the times I did think about mass, my thoughts were not really positive. It's just asking too much from a kid and very likely to backfire.

I guess it is all in what you are taught. It was always a special time for us growing up and made us really appreciate everything. I think kids, in general, today are a little spoiled. It is all about me, me, me! They don't seem to have to sacrifice much.

Santa wraps at out house. I have never heard of not wrapping the christmas gifts. The only things we don't wrap are just too big to wrap like a Power Wheels car or something like that. Unwrapping and the big mess after is all the fun WE usually try to install batteries if we can without ruining packaging. Also we don't put the kids gifts under the tree until they go to sleep on christmas eve. DD says she is sleeping on the couch this year so she can see Santa I said then Santa won't come to our house, and that she could leave cookies & milk like every year instead.

I got some good ideas on this thread about wrapping each childs gifts in different paper. Then I won't have to mess with the tags. Also Santa's gift I will make a different colored paper. Thanks for the tips.

We always wrap. It's the wondering what's inside that breeds the excitement as they tear off the paper. And as they get older trying to figure it out. One year we switched all the names and it really confused the kids, they didn't know what they had until we told them to open up ones with the other name on them.

I never heard of Santa not wrapping a present! This thread is really shocking to me. I guess it's what you're used to. Half the fun (or more) is wrapping the gift and seeing the kids faces as they unwrap it with anticipation. Maybe it changes as they get older?

I was just curious what others do. Santa's presents were always unwrapped under the tree when I was growing up. DH's were always wrapped. So far, we (I should say me wrap Santa's presents. I'm seriously rethinking this because between the wrapping and then the unwrapping, I'm making a lot of extra work for myself!! Last year DD6 even noticed that Santa used the same wrapping paper one of her cousin's gifts was wrapped in...oops!

My Santa gifts as a child were never wrapped. I never knew that Santa wrapped until I compared notes with someone in my new mother's group. Santa tried it one year at my house but ultimately Santa decided the time was better spent elsewhere. I work in my Dad's Flower Shop at Christmas and therefore end up working late right up to Christmas eve. As my Mom works there seasonally as well perhaps that is why Santa did not wrap my gifts growing up. However as a child I was blissfully unaware that Santa wrapped at other houses and loved turning that corner to see my presents under the tree Christmas morning.

I think it just depends what you are used to. We have never wrapped Santa gifts. That was the way I was brought up also. The Santa presents are taken out of boxes etc. My kids would not think the elves would put toys in a box like at the store. DH and I have spent some long night putting together train tables, Playmobil stuff etc on Christmas Eve. We wouldn't have it any other way! Also, we love the atmosphere that the toys create for the kids when they come down Christmas morning! We try to be creative in setting up the toys. My son still talks about how a big stuffed animal was "driving" his Hummer riding car one year.Christmas is a huge deal for our family and my kids have tons of gifts to open on Christmas morning. I think it is really fun to hear about everyone's traditions! Wrapped or unwrapped it is a wonderful thing!

Gifts from mom and dad are wrapped, and there is the fun of wrapping and anticipation there.

Gifts from Santa are set up and ready to play with. For my kids, the WOW factor is seeing a basketball hoop or a Barbie dollhouse all set up and ready to play with.

Santa presents are unwrapped!!! When I was a kid, they would be unwrapped and they would have a name tag on them to tell us who's pile was whose. I am not sure why my parent's did it this way...maybe because the were foster parents and some holiday there were a bunch of kiddos.
I have kept this tradition with my daughter and she is three this year. Last year she ran in and could see everything right away and play while we prepared breakfast!!!

Santa has never wrapped at our house. He always sets up, assembles, charges, puts in batteries, etc, so everything is ready to go. Until this year....DS6, the only one who still believes, asked me tonight why Santa doesn't wrap his presents. I told him I didn't know. He told me he wants them wrapped and will ask Santa to do so in his letter. So this year Santa wraps! I think he doesn't like it because he's usually the last one up, so he doesn't get to see the 3 distinct piles with the big name tags on them. He just sees his pile and his brothers gifts strewn around. Change is good...I can do this

We wrap Santa presents for now. DD seems to enjoy unwrapping gifts; so the more the merrier. I'm not sure what we'll do when she's older.

In our house, Santa wraps! Red paper for DS7 and Green paper for DD9. He does not label and he is too lazy to doll up the gifts with ribbons & bows (he is in a hurry). Santa brings toys, Mom & Dad give them clothes & PJ's (wrapped in different paper of course) on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Eve gifts are generally boring, but they are gifts adding to the excitement!!

Santa never wraps in our house. he is too busy before Christmas to find time. Everything is out of the box and in working order. Stockings magically (empty and under the tree Xmas eve) appear on doors Christmas morning. The tree lights are off when we go to bed but magically on when we wake up. Plus Santa also has time to throw a breakfast casserole in the oven before he leaves so that mom doesn't have to cook Christmas morning.

Growing up Santa at my house did not wrap and DH's did. So we compromise and all gifts are wrapped and all stocking stuffers are unwrapped.
Also, Santa uses only solid paper. It began with all gifts being wrapped in solid red with my first DS. Now we have three and each has there own color: red, green and silver. (Iknow, I make things too hard on myself.)
