Are Resales Of BCV Worth It When You Can Buy From Disney At $74/pt

I guess there would not be many Resales for bcv with banked pts.

It just depends. Every resale, no matter what the home resort, needs to be valued individually on the merits.

The only person who can say that a resale is always better than buying directly via Disney is the broker, LOL!

Good advice, CarolMN! I am studying for a real estate final right now, and its true- the broker always works for the seller, even if hired by the buyer, because the broker doesn't get paid unless there's a sale.... gotta love the way it works ;)

But pmc, I see your point-- we're about 18-24 months away from buying DVC (DH thinks 30 months, but whatev), and when SSR came out, I wondered why people would pay the same price for 12 less years at BCV.

I'm hoping that when we're (finally!) ready to buy DVC that the deals from Disney will be just as good as the resales!

Two years ago - before SSR was even announced (Eagle Pines was) we bought a BWV resale.

If I were going to make the decision to shop today for another contract, I'd buy a VWL resale or add on more BWV points - even if I had to pay MORE per point than SSR.

Why? I'm buying it to use. And I won't live another 50 years (or if I do, I don't think I'll be doing Disney at 85), so additional years don't add any value to me - except when and if I finally sell it - which is too far in the future to worry about. We like the BW location and the WL theming (and the easy MK access). (After using it, I've decided that I personally, am not a SAB fan. Its a fantastic pool, but too difficult for me to keep track of the kids there. Very happy we didn't buy from Disney and end up at BCVs. This is not a slam on the resort, I'm just a nervous mom around a pool - and SAB isn't a good pool for nervous moms). We aren't DTD type people, and the SSR theming doesn't do anything for us.

A lot of people don't have trouble making reservations at seven months. Its the sort of thing that stresses me and I'm willing to pay to avoid it.

crisi, that is a good point on SAB - DW and I agreed that we would have to track the kids closely around SAB when we stay at BCV and use it

thanks

crisi, good pts you make! DH and I will buy DVC in our late twenties, as DINKs for at leat five more years, so the extra years are looking pretty good to us. We are happy to stay anywhere on Disney property, and because of work schedules won't be likely to plan more than 7 months out most of the time anyways, so I say, bring on EP!

Just had to say I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way about SAB. And yes, I am quite overprotective--my kids are still little.

But to go down the ship slide, it looked like getting there required quite a walk across the main walkway??? I would be a nervous wreck.

I guess if the kids were older, I could require them to stay together???

We only saw the pool when we ate at B&C; have never stayed at BCV.

Please read this post carefully. I did not have my BCV contracts for sale, but made friends with a man, interested in DVC

He offered me $77 per point for a 50 points dvc contract and would pay all closing costs and $100 transfer Fee.

It was an august use year.

I had used the August,2003 and August 2004 points.

I was going to pay the 2004 annual dues, of course.

The contract was worthless until August,2004, even then he was borrowing the August 2005, points.

I told him to buy direct, from DVC, told him it would be cheaper.
he said, he wanted only 50 dvc points, not 150 points, minimum buying retail thru DVC.

He felt he could get into DVC, thru a small 50 pt contract and then rent from people and once a dvc member, he could transfer in rental points, into his contract, where he would have total control

I think this is an example, where BCV,might be worth as much as $77 per point.

I doubt it.

You can get a resale from a broker on a small contract for $65-70 a point, plus closing costs. Several are availble right now through the Timeshare Store - $65 a point, 60 points. Vero Beach, so you have the dues issue and it isn't a WDW location, but most people can do fine at seven months.

Hi Everyone: All our points are at BCV. We bought 150 points in August. Paid $84 with all 150 points from March 2003, we had to pay about $200 in dues for 2003. We banked all 2003 point to 2004. Last week I called WDW and bought another 150 points use year Feb. We were allowed to use magical beginnings so paid $74 with about $60 dues for 2003. We will receive 150 Feb. 1, 2004. When I investigated a resale there was nothing close to the deal I got with Disney direct. The only resale for BCV available was for $74 plus closing costs of $4 per point and there were no points until Aug. 2004. Seemed to me the direct was cheaper. Now if you were willing to have someplace other than BCV as your home resort, then there may be some deals on resales. The two factors other than price that affect resales value are the banked/borrowed points and those closing costs, which can be very expesive(per point) on small contracts.
