Are PS necessary in May?

Just wondering how necessary it is to have PS made for our trip May 9-13. In the past I have been very lucky with just walking in to the restaurants (September, October, December) and having very short wait times. The last time we went I did make several and found that it really cramped our style: having to be a certain place at a certain time, having to be hungry at a certain time, etc. and I really prefer the spontaneity of just eating wherever we happen to be. I have never been to WDW in May before. TIA for any input.

I'm going the 6-13 and trying to change a few of the ones I already made and am finding it impossible! I have a dinner PS at 1900 Park Fair that I wanted to add 2 to and there was nothing available all night long! I changed a lunch reservation for Tony's and had one choice. I can't change my Fanstamic Dinner Show reservation either!

I'd say if there are places you will be upset if you miss then make the PS now.

I would say that it depends on where you are trying to eat. Our last trip we only made one PS at Chef Mickeys for monday. Well we arrived on Friday and decided to try on Saturday for seating. The CM sais come on in and seated the nine of use without a problem.

Thsi year I tried to get PS for Cindies castle and they were booked almost earlier then you could call :confused3

Other places may be booked but I like the idea of just showing up and getting a seat instead of having certain times to be places.

Good Luck :earsboy:

I think making PS is always a plus. It doesn't take long to do and it saves on wait time.
We just returned from Disney and went to Le Cellier for dinner (did PS) other people were trying to get into it and they were totally booked for the night. Like I said- it doesn't hurt to call!

Have A Disney Day

I think it's a smart idea to make PS's as early as possible for the places that are MUST-do's for you, or on days where timing is important. We'll be there May 11-16, and I have 3 PS's made: Crystal Palace breakfast, Le Cellier lunch and Coral Reef lunch. I wasn't able to get the time I wanted for Le Cellier, but I'm going to keep trying. These are the places that are most important to us, and the timing is important too, so I wanted to make sure I got them! :)

This is my 11th May trip in a row and I WOULD NEVER go without PS for our trips. I can't tell you how many times we have been in line to check in, only to have the CM come out and announced there are no seatings available. With the new EMH evening hours, restraurants are busier because folks are grabing dinner in the parks so they can stay longer. We saw this first hand in January. You have to decide the restraurant and what might be happening at the parks to make your decision. On EMH nights I have PS. On weekends I have PSs. I will make a few ad hoc ones throughout my trip, but I never walk in. My trip is April 29-May 14th, so I have alot of PS to make.

We've never been in May either, so we went ahead & made several PS's for the places we definitely wanted to eat at. I called last week to make a few changes & every time I needed was available. For every single PS I've made for this trip I got my first desired time - & many more were available. I was hoping that it's a good sign that the parks won't be too packed - our dates are 5/12 - 5/21.

We also usually go in Sept, Jan, Dec & make some PS's before the trip. We have frequently changed some of them once there due to schedule changes. We never have a problem adjusting them once on site. HTH ! :)

I think the popularity of the MYW dining plan and the extention of the DDE to non-Florida residents are really changing the dynamics. There are a lot more people trying to eat sit down now than their used to be. So even if you had luck last year, it may not mean luck this year.

I am going 5/6 - 5/14 and I cannot get PS for several restaurants including Fantasmic Dinner Package. It is sold out for the lenghth of our stay. I'm beginning to worry about crowds :sad2:
