Are "ponchos" needed for grizzly river run?

I have always gotten SOAKED on this ride! I agree with the idea to put your feet on the little ledge - that helps - but if you're wearing socks / tennis shoes, take them off. Last time we took what felt like a full bucket to the face about three times... the ponchos helped but believe me when I tell you the water comes from every direction!

Its always luck whether you get drenched or not. However, here are my experiences.

Those sitting next to the enter/exit step often get very wet. Waves will crash right on thru the openings drenching those sitting next to them.

Whomever ends up going down the first drop backwards has an excellent chance of getting soaked as the splash comes up and over them. Not much you can do about this as its mostly luck.

Keep your feet off the floor of the raft except during the 2nd drop. In this case put your foot over the drains in the bottom of the raft. If you don't, water can shoot up thru these and soak your legs and shoes.

Thanks for the responses!

One other question.

If we have things like a camera that we don't want them to get wet, do we have to get a locker so they don't get wet or is there somewhere on the craft we can keep them that will not get hit with water?

Thanks

There are 2 hour free lockers right at the ride. A lot of people miss them, as they're off to the side of the FP machines. But they're very helpful for things you don't want ruined. If you don't spot them, just ask the CM to point them out.

I always have a couple of the 99 cent ponchos with us. Some in the group use them some don't. I'm with the side of staying dry. Being Pooh sized I tend to get drenced and walking around in wet jeans and shirt is not fun. My girls love getting wet even in Nov
