My wife heard that the DVC lake view studios at Poly can be noisy because of the "fog horns" of the boats on the lake. Has anyone experienced that? Thank you!

Yes you can hear the horns from the ferry boats. We stayed Lakeview third-floor about the middle of the longhouse, we didn’t have an issue with noise. You could request to be in a room away from TTC,( remember request are not guaranteed)

We stayed lake view third floor far right towards the ferry boat landing Early May 2021. Yes, you could hear the horns when sitting on the balcony, no it did not disturb us when in the room. The wonderful view, and being able to see the ferries, other small water craft and the monorail going in the distance more than made up for the horns. Full disclosure, we stay boardwalk view all the time at BWV, and there are boat horns there too. Those don’t bother me either, it is truly all about the view for us. These older buildings appear to have pretty good sound proofing compared to other newer resorts, in my opinion.

Ok, thank you. Could you just hear them, or were they loud enough that it kept you up all night? My wife was told that it is so loud we would not be able to sleep. I find that hard to believe, but figured I would see what people on here thought.

Perfect! Thank you! And we are the say way...I am willing to "put up" with small stuff like a little noise in order to get a great view.

We could sleep, did not keep us awake.

I second what @snappy said 😀 We too have stayed Boardwalk and Poly water views, received more enjoyment from the water views, fireworks, looking at the castle, that a few horns didn't bother us. But... be prepared and pack your wife a few earplugs for sleeping.
If you decide to go with Lake view Poly, make your #1 request the 3rd floor so you can see over the bungalows.

We stayed in a lake view 1st floor about 1/2 way down the building. Yes the horns are loud. We go to bed late so horns didn’t bother us then. But in the morning they woke me up. I’m a light sleeper and use a white noise to sleep. So if your a heavy sleeper you’ll probably be fine.

We stayed there and I found the horn woke me up and I had ear plugs, so yes they are loud, but some people don´t have an issue. I did and will not stay there again.

We always stay lake view and like others have said you can request to be on the far end of the building. The horn is still very much heard but I have found it become white noise after awhile.

If the Magic Kingdom is open... You will hear the boats . Check the hours or time the time of year you are going. If park opens early or has a late night you may have a issue unless YOU are going to the park

We just stayed in June at Morea lake view and the boats will definitely wake you up "early". My wife is a light sleeper and prefers to sleep in on vacation and said she won't stay again in a Lake view at the poly. If you're early risers and don't go to be early its no problem.
