Are people really that worried about being photographed in public places?

your comments remind me of this recent thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/w...se-of-blues-restaurant.3917060/#post-64764636 also has links to other such situations.

Not really trying to connect your story about the woman in the restaurant but it follows the whole taking photos in public vs taking photos of a person
Yeah, that was us, but in this specific circumstance it was VERY obvious that this individual was photographing our young DD and not just the background. He didn't hide it and had the pictures on his phone when I confronted him.

In other circumstances if the family (or me) is in someone else's picture, I don't care.

So it depends on the circumstance.

There was a time in my life where I was being harassed by an ex and moved to another city to get away from them. Fortunately for me, the internet wasn’t the place it is today. I would have been concerned about being found using facial recognition technology if it happened today, so I can understand if some people are reluctant to be photographed. When I am taking photos, I do my best not to include anyone who is not a friend or family member in my photos.

There is a difference in being in the background of a photo and being the subject of the photo. I would prefer someone ask before making me the subject of a photo, so I know what their intentions are. I don’t care if I am somewhere in the background of a photo, and would never ask someone to delete such a photo.

Everyone has a phone with a camera nowadays. I never leave home without my hair done and face on...just in case. 😏 Although I draw the line at one of the kiddos in a shot. I don't even post their photos online. I'm very protective of their privacy.

Def. was just speaking towards the PP's comment about obligations to delete pictures or videos and things related to that.

One time I was just standing while riding a light-rail vehicle and looking at my phone (the incident with the crotchety old man I mentioned earlier). He was accusing me of taking photos of him, but I was just looking something up while waiting to get to my destination. But he was a real piece of work too. He "ordered" me to sit down, claiming that I might be a danger to him if the vehicle suddenly jerked/stopped. I was a good 8 feet from him. He also loudly questioned why I would waste my time staring at an electronic device. I just walked away to another part of the car where he apparently didn't follow me to berate me.
The number of times something like this seems to happen to you indicates something weird is up

I’m very protective of my children’s privacy and safety. I understand that we are probably in thousands of pictures at WDW in the background, and that’s unavoidable so I don’t stress about it. However I have had a random come up and say “oh your baby is so cute” and took a picture of my child. I about lost it. They deleted the photo and deleted photos album in front of me (and claimed they didn’t know why it was an issue) and I’m still creeped out about it. I keep my kids off the internet and they don’t need to be in some random stranger’s phone/social media using the photo for who who knows what nefarious purposes.
