Are People now having to walk around on their phones all day?

In my experience the answer is yes, but that's not a bad thing. You can get everything done on your phone while waiting in line. Check what wait times are so you can head straight to the next ride when you get off, or place a mobile order so when you go to the restaurant you can go directly to the pickup window. And for me personally, having time to read the menus instead of deciding on a meal quickly while at the cash register is less anxious. Using your phone for 2 minutes in the middle of a 30 minute queue is definitely not being on your phone all day, at least in my opinion.

The biggest difference would be for people who didn't bring their phones in the park at all. You don't need it, but ordering quick service food without it can result in a longer wait. I always have my phone and sometimes listen to music in line, so that isn't an issue for me.

Thanks? Again this isn’t new… and Disney is not now nor ever was a spontaneous type of trip… but ok do you

We went in December 2016. Totally last minute since hotels and flights were so cheap. Within a week. No planning whatsoever! We had an amazing time and even booked the Christmas after party. We got Yak and Yeti dining, CRT Character dining the day of, Askerhaus character dining the day we arrived, and hit every ride we wanted to without any planning whatsoever. We just went.

With all this extra usage, how is the wifi/cell service holding up? I was just at Disneyland last month and that was the biggest issue I kept running into. A cast member even told me to turn off 5G/wifi to have a better chance at a virtual queue spot.

I don't think you can turn off 5G for cell service, I agree about the wifi though.

I would argue this sentiment, that people who don't mind spending 2 minutes on their phone every hour or so don't know how to vacation, are young and addicted to screens, etc etc, is equally condescending.

I do agree people will have different definitions for what "being on their phone a lot" means. I haven't used G+ yet, but with FP+ and Maxpass I usually just checked availability while in line for something. You don't have to do it that often or during shows, experiences, etc. If a little extra phone time means several more rides or shorter lines, then fair trade off. I found hunting for rides on the phone kind of fun.

I also agree the mobile ordering system is a pain, but it beats standing in a super long line to order food, so again, not sure what the alternative is.
I think it’s funny how people assume from my post I’m older. But surprise, I’m actually only in my 20s. :wave2: So, no, it’s not condescending since I am “one of those young people”.
