Are park reservations calendars correct?

I have OBB tickets but was holding off on park tickets in hopes of MKs appearing again next month. I check the park availability calendar daily but everything looks wide open for both MK availability and ticket availability.

I am seeing lots of people saying they were not able to get park reservations during the summer yet summer also looks wide open. I'm questioning if the park reservations availability calendar online is accurate. Has anyone had issues where it listed as available on the public link but not when you went to reserve?

Hmm.... I'm not sure what link you're looking at but MK reservations are already "sold out" for the second half of August (as soon as the summer blockout ends for most passes) and D23 weekend is showing only 1 starting park (DL) available both days. For regular tickets I don't think there has been much reservation pressure since May/early June. I would guess they were able to make the MK bucket much smaller for the summer since most passes are blocked out which in turn means a larger "bucket" for regular tickets as well as I believe they are finally operating back at full capacity or at least close to it.

This is the public MK calendar link I have been using: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/availability-calendar/

Shows all summer parks reservations are available. Is there a different calendar I can check?

Ahh I see where you are talking about. Looks like all of July is up for grabs but then just those last two weeks of August are the only sold out ones for MK.

I use the same link DizMe shared (I just keep it open in a tab on my browser...because... IDK why...LOL). I should have put it in my original post- sorry!
I'm not sure what she means for things that might not be on there though.

Depends on what kind of ticket you have. I would be blocked out because I have a magic key. If you have a hopper, it's open. Not sure about the others.

Edited to add: here is a list of the reservation ability calendars for different ticket types: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/av...egments=ticket,ph,ap,resort&defaultSegment=ap

There are things that may not be on there, though.
Sorry; that was pretty vague! I wasn't sure if special events tickets had a different calendar.

Curious why the Dream Key calendar is all booked for those last 2 weeks of August, yet wide open for the other summer dates. I understand why the other key calendars are booked at that same time -- given the blocked dates/unblocking. But what is it about that 2 weeks that is causing no Dream Key reservation availability?

I was wondering too. Maybe because it's the break between summer activities and fall start of school?

Every single Magic Key that is blocked out over the summer only has those dates. Add on that nobody can make reservations past their expiration date with many keys expiring early August and pretty much the only time a huge portion of keyholders can make reservations is for those weeks.

Earlier, there seemed to be a lot of difference in availability between different tiers of passes but that no longer seems to be the case. I think Disney realized that if friends/family have different tiers of passes, they want to go together.

Did we ever establish the answer to this? I'm a bit nervous it will be a madhouse at the end of August for our trip.

Enchant and Imagine unblocking combined with several passes activated in the early weeks of availability expiring.

Enchant and Imagine have been blocked all summer so they can hold all those last half of August reservations without giving up going until then since they can't go until then anyways :confused3 . Dream and Believe if they use any reservations for that time period would have given up reservations they could have had during the summer. Plus people wanting to make sure they get "one last visit" before their passes expire.

Also could be Disney messing with bucket availability, but the main reason is likely Enchant and Imagine unblocking. Availability is wide open for every other bucket except Keys.

Oh yeah. I think it’s going to be VERY busy. All of the blocked MK’s have gobbled up the end of August reservations. They can’t wait to get back to the parks. All of the locals around here are buzzing about getting their kids back to DLR for the “end of summer”.

Dang. I looked at school calendars and it seemed like schools were all back in session for our dates. That's why I picked them. I wonder if MK holders just automatically grab the reservations to hold onto whether or not they truly plan to use them.

Schools are in session here starting August 18, but the school day ends at like 2pm. Plenty of time left for local families to hit the parks for a few hours in the afternoon/evening.

But also, school being back in session means stay at home parents get to finally hit the parks kid free for a few hours in the mornings/early afternoons! 😆

I’m planning a trip from 8/21-8/24, and now I’m also worried about crowds. In the past, that was a good week to go, because local schools were back in session. Our schools go back in September, so that was a good week for us. Oh well.

We do our afternoon break when school is getting out. I guess we will return to a crowd. Maybe at least the out-of-town crowds will be lighter with school in session across the country for our dates.

Funny you mention stay home parents. My husband and I don't ride California Screamin' (or whatever it's called now) so my kid always rode by himself. Invariably, a sweet stay-home mom would be placed in the seat next to him. He always felt nice and safe next to a fun mommy. :)
