Are pantyhose a thing of the past?

ok so I come from a fashion industry background and I have to say no panthose are not out of fashion... But there are rules.

You shouldn't wear pantyhose that are tan or a different color from your own skin they should look nude and be sheer. they shoudn't creat any extra bulges. You dont wear pantyhose with open toe shoes unless they are some kind of netting design. are fishnets ok yes try nude looks great with sweater style dressed. Try opaques with shorter skirts. Look at vogue and other fashion magazines. as for daughter suggesting not wearing hose I dont know I think younger generation really got sucked into the small time fashion when hose were out but they need to get hip to the fact that they are back.

remember hose are your friends especally with all the body shapers and spanxs.

I was out and about today, and tried on Spanx. Hey, it's no different than pantyhose, except they cost wayyyy more, and they are longer. I barely remember girdles..but the memory flashed back when I wiggled into the Spanx..and it wasn't a good memory. Just as uncomfortable, and wherever they end..you still get the spill over (and it's not easy to bend in those things). Tights..how uncomfortable are they..they are just thick pantyhose. Nope, not for me. I'm putting the pantyhose back in the luggage!

Up until about 4 years ago, I wore pantyhose anytime I went out, not only to work with dresses or pants but when I went for exercise walks in shorts and yes, even in Disney World. I was probably the only tourist in Disney walking around in pantyhouse because of my white/blochy legs.

But I finally wised up, now I only wear them with a dress or with pants if it's cold. Ya don't like my legs, don't look. (I don't think their as bad looking as I used to.)

No, pantyhose are not "out". Oprah said so!!:lmao:

Oprah had her stylist on about 2 weeks ago (he is the stylist for her magazine). They were doing a show on job interviews, what you should wear, and making a good impression. Basically, most people were wearing some form of a black suit/dress. Everyone, except for one woman, had pantyhose on and they looked spectacular. They got into a discussion about the trend not to wear hose and the stylist felt, that except for certain occasions, you should always wear hose on the job, especially for an interview. I applauded him because he also said that you should wear a good, sheer black hose if you have black clothes and shoes on.

Anyway, I digress...

There are certain types of dresses that do NOT lend themselves to pantyhose and I think that's perfectly fine. I am a big pantyhose wearer but didn't wear them through most of the summer because of the type of clothes I wore (I'm 43 also).

And back on page one, one poster talked about why they seem to be going out of style with the younger generation. That's true. Because the younger generation can't seem to tell when they need to hide their flaws. They haven't got the memo that you should wear super low-rise jeans when you have huge lovehandles. You shouldn't wear a tight, short T-shirt when you have a beer gut. I truly believe that if you have yucky, splotchy skin, age spots on your legs, and cellulite, pantyhose are your friend.

So I guess one should show all their "business" just to be in style?:confused3

I don't think I have worn panty hose in the last 2 decades! Even my 80 year old mom has realized they are out and she doesn't wear them anymore-even to church!

I found Spanx to be completely comfortable. Absolutely no crotch hang! I'm not sure where the fat is spilling over? Spanx go right up to your ****s. Also, people are talking about the price. You can get them cheaper if you know where to shop. Around here, they were over $50 a pair in department stores. The exact same pair with the Spanx name on them, I got for less than $20 at a discount department store. Also, they aren't meant to be worn with underwear under them. So, if you tried them on that way (which I suppose you would have to - didn't even realize they would let you try on undergarments) it might make a difference in comfort and lumpiness.

Amen sister!!! I look at some of these looks you described and think, either that kid needs glasses, or they need a full length mirror!! I know I don't have a perfect body, and try to follow the "leave something to the imagination" credo. :thumbsup2
