I know most restaurants onboard are basically all you can eat, meaning you can order more than 1 appetizer or more than 1 entree. My husband & I usually each order an entree and then share one. Is this possible at Palo or Remy?

Remy is a set menu and you really can't eat more or leave unfull.

Palo you can order more but you can be discouraged in ordering more than one entree, again the amount of food served you can't end the meal not bring full.

Palo brunch is all you can eat.

I think your description of " all you can eat" gives the wrong impression of the MDRs etc.

Yes Cabanas, and Cookies at Castaway are all you can eat, like buffets such as Golden Corral but the MDRS are different, you could and can order more than one dish as it is included so if you haven't experienced a entree before they will happily serve an extra one, it's not really order three lobster tails as there should be a full meal without it to satisfy anyone, but if you find something interesting and can't choose you do not have to.

My dh got 2 desserts at Remy. So yes, you can order extra. But honestly, you'll be so stuffed with just what they provide!

AJ12345 ~ Go ahead and order an extra entree to share, we plan to. You might be able to order a half portion depending on what it is.

I met a couple the other day and last night they went to palo. The husband had a list of five entrees he was going to order. They've been there before and had full expectations that his order would be fulfilled.

We ordered one entree and the server just kept bringing stuff to us. If I hadn't had a piece of bread I would have felt full but good there. Because I had the too filling bread I left not feeling that great. The bread was not good enough in retrospect!

Palo is NOT all you can eat - it's Too Much To Eat It All

Our server kept bringing us entree's to share after she brought the entree's we ordered. Then the chef brought us more food.

It was all really, really really good.

Went home stuffed that night... but it was a good stuffed!!

i would say no. no, they are not “all you can eat” in the way i am assuming it to mean and the way it would mean at golden corral or some other buffet as someone mentioned. you will be more than full leaving either. and if not, there is always food available somewhere! :goodvibes

The 4 times we have eating there they never brought us extra.

The 2 times I asked for something extra was giving lip about it.

Sometimes the tenderloin is so small it wouldn't feed a child!

That's too bad:( We've eaten there 3 times and always been given extra or a half portion of something that we wanted to try in addition to our main entrée.

We have never ordered more than we thought we would eat but our servers always bring us something extra. First time at Palo, since DH and I both got the same appetizer, she (Berny) thought we should have something else to try so she brought us a full sized calamari app to try and on top of our souffle she also brought panacotta, berries, etc. Second time in Palo our wonderful server Andre insisted my DH have the lobster ravioli in addition to his other items and kept trying to give us more food. :rotfl: We have been literally stuffed at dinner both times. Don't even get me started on brunch.....

ETA: Our servers have also insisted that we have a pasta course and a main course.

That was not my experience at all. Our server brought us extra food that we didn't even ask for. We ate so much I actually left a few bites of my tenderloin uneaten since I was so stuffed. The tenderloin was decent sized. We each ordered the chocolate souffle for dessert and our server brought us a couple extra desserts that she thought we should try. I gained 4 pounds on a 3 night cruise and I would guess that Palo was responsible for 3 of those 4 pounds.

It's not all you can eat, but you will walk out of there feeling like you need a wheelbarrow to haul you out. The portions are huge. You can order more than one entree, and depending on your server, it may even be encouraged. Our server noticed I couldn't decide between 2 entrees so she insisted on bringing me both. I told her there was no way I could finish 2 and she still insisted. We compromised on half portions of each. I think it's one of those "your mileage may vary" things depending on your server.

We've been to Palo three times for dinner and once for brunch and we've been asked every time if we wanted to try additional menu items - sometimes we declined and sometimes we tried them. Even the brunch - we ordered an egg item and the chicken parmesan and our server brought us something else as well. For dinner we've order more than one appetizer, or pasta course, or dessert and again never got any flak for that. I have had the tenderloin there and while it may have been an 8 ounce portion, I didn't care, because I had so many other wonderful things to eat. Sounds like you've had a run of bad luck in your Palo experiences.

We did Palo Brunch and Dinner and Remy Dinner.

I left Remy hungry, but that's mostly because they couldn't meet my dietary needs (I don't eat grains or dairy.) They also saw i wasn't happy and didn't charge me for the meal, which I didn't not ask for and was super nice of them.

For Palo Brunch and Dinner, I left STUFFED! We had Marco from Chile (as opposed to Marco from Italy, the sommelier) as our server at brunch and requested and had him again at dinner.

At brunch, I had a huge plate of food from the buffet, plus i ordered soup and an entree, and i had just one dessert from the dessert table since it was the only dairy free one, but Marco then had the kitchen special make me 2 more desserts (dairy free/grain free Tiramisu) because he didn't think that fruit was dessert (I agree and the dessert table at brunch is INSANE!) He also brought a salad and 2 entrees for DH and an extra plate of dessert items so he could try them all.

At dinner, we each enjoyed the antipasti. We were both offered and got 2nds plus a salad for DH, cioppino for me, I got 2 meat courses (no pasta for me), the tenderloin and the osso buco, and then they made me a special dessert which was AMAZING (dairy free chocolate mousse and lemon cake made with almond flour.) I could not finish either the tenderloin or the osso buco since there was so much food.

As for the MDR, DH once order 3 appetizers because he couldn't decide and he and the gentleman at the table next to us ordered 2 desserts almost every night.

We must have had a dud at our Palo dinner as we wavered on what to order and were forced to choose one each, no extra food to try, nothing over and above and barely "enough." We are both big eaters, easily could have handled another entrée to split, and hinted toward it figuring if it was permitted he would pick up on the cues, but didn't know the "rules" so we did not outright insist... now I wish we had. Sadly, it left a bad taste in dh's mouth (figuratively) and he refuses to go back. We had the same waiter/similar issue with entrees at brunch a few days later but managed to fill up on all the buffet style items, so that was fine.

Is it possible it depends on the ship? We were on the Magic...

We have eaten at Palo on both the Magic and Wonder (although, the trips were also 2 years apart, we actually had the same wonderful server!) Once, we ordered an additional entrée to share and another time we were brought additional items to try.

Also, I don't remember the portions as "huge" - I thought they were quite reasonable.

One time I had trouble choosing between the gorgonzola gnocchi and the rack of lamb, both of which I've had before. I asked if the chef could do a half order of the gnocchi and a half order of the lamb. Our server said he would see if the chef could do a half rack as apparently it is better to cook as a full rack although I did get a half rack. I ended up with a full order of the gorgonzola gnocchi so DH helped me to finish it. So good but so rich. This was on the Dream.

Another time DH and I both ordered an entree and the server said that surely there was another entree that we'd like to share. So we did order another one to share. This was on the Magic.

The first time we went, I dithered about what to order and our server asked what else had I been interested in. I told him the arrabiatta pasta but it had shrimp and I'm allergic. After he brought our entrees, he brought a small side plate of the arrabiatta without shrimp for me to have. This was on the Wonder.

I've always found them to be very encouraging for you to try more than one, regardless of the ship. Usually, however, I prefer to order two appetizers and a half order of pasta rather than two entrees. And always the souffle of course. One day perhaps I will try another dessert. Or perhaps not.

The DW and I have done Palo Brunch, Palo Dinner, and Remy Lunch.

Palo Brunch: This is all you can eat, and AMAZING. This is a must for everyone, and absolute must.

Palo Dinner: This is not all you can eat, but they have a menu. We basically ordered everything on the menu. They're known for their Souffle, which was to die for.

Remy Lunch: If I had to choose between Palo Brunch and Remy Lunch, I'd choose Palo Brunch hands down. Remy Lunch is a set menu. It's still good, but to me, the all you can eat at Palo Brunch is unbeatable!

I have been to Palo brunch and dinner on all four ships many times and was never denied an extra entree. The opposite is usually what happens with the server bringing/suggesting many different things.

Sounds like it was a server issue and not a Palo issue.
