Are MK Shoots Worth the Heartache?

Well, it's a done deal. No MK shoot. It's simply not available to anyone 10/23-11/08. They offered to extend our "opportunity" to come back for the shoot for longer than 1 year, but I'm completely not interested in that right now.

I am in tears. :sad1:

 I am so sorry to hear this!

I can't believe how unfair they are being about all of this.

I hope this isn't going to be a yearly thing; schedule the shoots and cancel them all later. At least I can prepare myself now for a possible canceled shoot, too. My wedding is going to be 11/7/13, and we're looking at doing a shoot the day after the wedding. :sad1:

Oh Amy, I am so sorry, I hope you are ok!!! I can't believe how much you've been messed around!! Guess the dream is over for us too :sad1: I would love to know when plan to let us know about it :sad2: Did they give you any indication as to why they have done this? Heartbroken about this x

Edit: Green screen experience???? They actually said that? Seriously?!

Natalie, I am so sad for all of us that this has devastated! They didn't say why the shoots had been cancelled, as it's all MK management's decisions.

And yeah, that green screen idea ... what a joke. :sad2:

I swear, this might just ruin Disney for me forever. I'm feeling very bitter right now.

Totally understand where you're coming from Amy, this just sucks big time, especially for you after you've been messed around so much.

Yeah, I'm pretty much at a loss right now.

In talking further with dh (who handled the call because I would've lost it), they also offered as an alternative to give us two other park shoots for the price of one or a $200 print credit (big whoop ... what's that cost them? $20?). When dh asked instead of two parks, could we do just one and get the preservation disc included, the manager snapped, "That's not going to happen." Why not say, "No, I can't do that" instead of being snotty?? And it's not like the preservation disc costs them anything. Dh is professional photographer. We know the "value" of what they're offering us. :sad2:

Gah. I'm so over Disney right now I could scream. I just want to cancel everything.

I'm so sorry you're going through this :sad1::grouphug:. I too would be very upset about this. Green screen experience? :sad2: They've got to be kidding!

Oh no :sad1:

I can't belive I only found out about this here!

I just emailed DFTW and got this response:

Disney Photography will be contacting all couples directly who are affected by the schedule changes for Magic Kingdom Portrait Sessions. They will work with you to schedule a different time during your stay if necessary. I believe they will be contacting everyone beginning next week. Since you are here until November 18, they should be able to find another date if November 2 is no longer available. Thank you-

:sad1:

I've got my fingers crossed for everyone that we can all try and re-schedule :grouphug:

And I was so happy yesterday to get our Annual Passes in the post - what a bummer!

I'm glad for you that you've got the option of later in the month! :)

My sweet Amy - I am so so sorry you have been disappointed like this (yet again)!!
I send my love and  to anyone whose shoot is cancelled!!

This is the thread that inspired me to turn from lurker to poster. I am also one of the brides that is being hit by the late October/early November MK reschedules :(

We were contacted today, and found out that Epcot is available for a shoot the early morning of our wedding. While it isn't the nighttime MK shoot of our dreams, at least there is an option that hopefully will be just as magical.

If you are willing, DFTW do seem like they are trying to offer alternatives and not just telling us "stinks to be you". I'd contact your planner and ask if any other parks have shoots available.

I feel each and every one of your pain.

*big hugs*

I've lurked for months now, and finally decided to join. I've wanted a Disney Wedding since I was sixteen, mostly because of the photoshoots. I Can't believe they are doing this to you ladies, it seems so unfair that you make your reservation and they just up and cancel? I get things come up, but it's not like this is something thats Oh Well. It's your WEDDING. Do they do this often?:sad1:

that-a-way - Hi and welcome to the boards!! I am so sorry you have bee disappointed like this!!
I think most of the brides affected will probably have been offered the alternatives, and for them, a different park just won't do!! I am a Swan (VR) bride so this disappointment does not affect me. I was never entitled to a MK shoot (although, like anybody, I was entitled to a bridal attire shoot in any other park), but one of these shoots was not high on my list of priorities, so I couldn't justify the enormous expense of it.
I realise that on a scale of world events generally, having the MK shoot cancelled is not hugely important. To some of these couples, however, it is crushing as it will have been a central part of their dreams for months, maybe years!!
I guess, they felt that, the MK shoot, as something uniquely available to DFTW brides, was something very special. To have it snatched away so suddenly is probably crushing!!!
I must say, I am so glad that I am not having to deal with this!!
Princess Samtastic - Hi and welcome!! It is the first time I have heard them do this, but I have not been around forever - others may know better!!! DFTW, however, are apt to changing their minds, giving out inconsistant information and cancelling booked reception venues to make way for conferences. It is, however, built into contracts that changes can be made, so it is difficult for brides to protest with any success

I 100% agree. The MK shoot meant the world to me, been dreaming about it ~15 years!! To hear that everything was cancelled, and for me to find out about it here before I was notified was awful. All last night I hardly slept wondering what would happen when I woke up.

I wasn't trying to say anything negative in my post, if it came off that way I sincerely apologize. While it wasn't my MK shoot... I am hoping the Epcot experience is still partially filling some small portion of that dream.

Just looking for that silver lining, it has to be in here somewhere.

Oh goodness sweetie, I wasn't suggesting you were being negative!!! You have been disappointed just as much as everyone else!!! I hope my post didn't come over the wrong way either!!! I think it's great that you are trying to still see the magic in the alternative offered to you!!! I fear that some of our Disbrides will not be able to do this (bless them), and for some it has tainted their experience of the Disney magic possibly forever!!

So I thought I'd update since I was so cranky yesterday. ;)

I've grudgingly accepted that the park shoot isn't going to happen, and we've decided not to do our planned Studios shoot, either. I feel like doing that at this point would sort of tacitly endorse everything that's happened, and I just can't do that.

So I'm focusing my energies (and money!) on decorating the Pavilion instead to make our ceremony as lovely as possible, and I'm looking very much forward to getting photos outside of the WP, around the little island. :thumbsup2

And as far as MK photos, we'll have oodles of family with us ... I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get a couple of nice photos of the two of us somewhere around the castle at some point in our trip. :)

It's not perfect and it's not fair, but that's life, right? I can't let it ruin my attitude towards what our celebration really means, which is a celebration of our family. :lovestruc

Much love to everyone who's been so supportive and understanding, and big hugs to everyone who's having to face this situation, now and (probably) again in the future!! :grouphug:

Glad you're feeling much better today. I think you're right, it's best to focus on the good things and think what great weddings we will all have. And I just may have to go as a bride to MNSSHP now.......;)
