Are MK Shoots Worth the Heartache?

They didn't call us to tell us, we just happened to find out when we called.

I think that's just awful. The excitement these shoots build up and the amount of money they cost, you'd think they'd at least call or have some sort of contact. Ours is booked for 8th of october - I know it's before the cancellations but it still makes me nervous.

I am completely heartbroken. No one has called to tell us yet but if this information is true then we can count on ours being cancelled since it is scheduled for 10/31.

I just got off the phone with Disney Event Photography and was told that the sessions for family or what they call music memories? have been cancelled. If you are a bride and already have your portrait session scheduled then you are safe. If the information was/is to change someone from management will call to let you know but as of right now the MK portrait sessions are still a go for bride and groom only.

If this affects any of you I am so so sorry.

I would be ecstatic if this were true, but it was Disney Fine Art Photography's MK bridal portrait schedule coordinator who told dh last night that we were cancelled along with everyone else from 10/23 - 11/08, so I'm dubious. We were told that DFAP had been informed by MK management yesterday that all those sessions were cancelled and that everyone would have to be rescheduled. I really hope they have/do change their minds!

See when I first called the girl told me that yes it looks like they had all been cancelled and that someone would be calling us to let us know. I immediately started crying and she said she would forward my information to a manager. I got a call back in less than 15 minutes and they told me that yes some MK portrait sessions had been cancelled but there was fine print to the information that was given to them through MK management and it stated that the bride and groom portrait sessions were still a go and as of now none of that had been changed. It was only regarding the family sessions. She promised that if our session was cancelled someone would call us but that as of right now it is still in the computer and everything is a go. I would call back to make sure that whoever gave you the information read all of it and not just that MK portrait sessions were cancelled from 10-23 to 11-8. I hope this is the case for you as well and someone just misinformed you. I will keep my fingers crossed!!!

Oh my gosh, I SO hope this is the case for us!! I almost don't dare get my hopes up, but please-please-please let it be true!! Meggydoodle, you have given me hope!

I spoke to both Rosie and Karen regarding our shoot next month (mostly because of the pending time changes). I was told by both, that it is not DFTW that cancels/changes the shoots, but MK themselves. they are doing all that construction over night into the early morning hours. Good luck to everyone... I was a wreck when I read about the time changes on here, and was lucky enough to be informed that ours was still at 6 am.

So now I am absolutely distraught and somewhat mad. I call Saturday to be upset, only to have someone call back to say no worries, to getting an email today stating that the manager would like to know if I could call her because my portrait session has been cancelled. I don't even have words right now...

Oh nooooooooo!!!!! I am so sorry to hear this! Your conversation Saturday had given me hope, but hope is now gone.

I feel so bad for you ladies! The MK shoot is one of the top things on my list of reasons why I'm getting married at Disney. I would be absolutely crushed if this was happening to me. Going back is an option, but it's just not the same. They shouldn't be able to cancel the shoots once they book them. It's just not fair.

I am so sorry! my shoot is 2 days before yours so I'd better prepare myself, I'm sure I'll be receiving an email shortly... Part of me is really mad, the other part is just really really sad

Just a thought - is it possible that this is the time they are putting the zillion christmas lights on the castle??? Sounds like pretty close timing, post halloween and ready for the christmas decorations...

Unless something has changed this year, they have always put up the castle lights during the summer months. They do the same for the Osborne lights.

Well, it's a done deal. No MK shoot. It's simply not available to anyone 10/23-11/08. They offered to extend our "opportunity" to come back for the shoot for longer than 1 year, but I'm completely not interested in that right now. Oh, or we could do a "green screen experience" to have our images superimposed in front of the castle.

I am in tears.
