Are members really magical?

Members are only magical to Disney in that they bring in bucketloads of income to the WDC every year.

There are probably several definitions for magical in the WDW dictionary. :goodvibes

And I'm rude?

No you are not rude here, at the resort when you rip into people over not getting a request. :rotfl2: My post was a sarcastic attempt at humor. You've taken enough beating on the other post for your behavior.

If non-members were always given the best room, then when they became members, the first thing they would do would gripe about their terrible room.

They gripe anyway unfortunately. I've said this before, all requests other than NS and HA should be eliminated. They should also ONLY use a room ready system. People would get into rooms that were available and they would be less likely to be dissapointed. After all, who would complain about a room they picked???? No names please. :rotfl2:

I'm magical when I eat cabbage. But you don't need to be a Member for that. pirate:

Removed - though I can't remove the quote. Why stoop to that level.

Please expand your mind and learn reading comprehension. Then you will find that I did not rip the hotel though I am ripping you now and wish you were in front of me so you could say these things to my face.

Well there you have it folks - The answer to the question - you guys are definately magical! :crazy2:

You know what, you're right. That wasn't very pleasant of me. Gee, I'm sorry that if some person (see I've toned it down) kicks me around more than once and gets nasty I get riled.

Keep your boards. At this point I've learned again that I really, really dislike most of humanity.

I think so. AP discounts, dining discounts, and free valet parking are all examples of things that make DVC members a little bit different from frequent, but non-DVC, visitors to WDW. Granted, these things may not be permanent perks, but for the moment we are certainly "entitled" to take advantage of them if we so wish.

Of course it goes without saying ( so we shall say it over and over ) that entitlement doesn't mean insisting on getting our every wish and whim fulfilled by DVC. All it means is that DVC members are, in fact, entitled to certain perks and privileges that others may not be. So that's kind of magical, IMO.

This sums up my feelings; well, add in a dollop Beca's "we help create the magic" and a pinch of Daitcher's exasperation at the overly-demanding....

i hope that you don't stay away forever...we're not all so bad! :)

i've only been on the DIS boards for 2 months and have already learned not to take things too personally, for 2 main reasons - (1) life is too short, and (2) miserable people aren't worth my time and effort...

and i agree w/you...it's much easier to call somebody out when you're XXX miles away and out of sight than when you're face-to-face. if only we could meet on the playground at 330 like in the old days :rotfl2:

My4kids,

Where did that quote from gothmommie come from? Was that directed at me for my light hearted joke about her taking a ripping on another post? I can't seem to find that quote on here? :confused3 Wow, we all need to lighten up, these boards are a good source of info. and a good place for the occasional laugh. Sometimes those laughs come at my expense, sometimes at others. I know who I won't be joking about in the future. pirate: As for the part of saying it to someones face, now that is funny. :rotfl2: I stand about 6 foot 5 inches tall, weigh 230 pounds and bench press 400+ pounds. Not exactly the guy you'd want to meet in the park at 3:30. :rotfl: Seriously, I hope gothmommie won't leave the boards over a few jokes or rips. Everyone's opinions deserve to be heard here.

Very interesting topic here Shantay1008. I feel both ways actually. I feel members are entitled to some special perks. DVC is a seriuos investment in the future of WDW. Membership grows daily and gives members more "buying or bargaining power". DVC is also a big factor in the resurgence of the company, well that and Lost on ABC. :rotfl: All of that is thanks to us, the members. This at the very least warrants some special things. Now this is where I go the other way. I absolutely hate the members who berate and talk down to staff when they don't get the room of choice, that special reservation, etc. The "But we are owners" thing really drives me crazy. Yes we are owners but cash guests deserve the same treatment as we do. Many times I've stayed at Marriott properties and had owners yelling at staff because I, a cash guest or non owner, was getting a better room than they were. So it isn't just a DVC thing here, I've seen it all over. Every guest deserves a good room, not just owners. In fact if I was running the place I'd give cash guests the best rooms in the house. Cash guests have the potential to become future owners. I hope this isn't confusing because I do feel both ways. Looking forward to others view on this.

I haven't stayed at WDW as a DVC owner yet, but I agree with this post 100%.

I especially don't think anyone - DVC member or not - should ever yell at or berate a CM.
